Paddington 4-1 ew. May give Chaldean some sort of a race.

Paddington probably has more natural brilliance and if you take Hi Royal as running up to his Newmarket run then Paddington comes out fractionally as the best of the two but I don’t like his head carriage and he shifted notably right when Ryan really got after him so I wonder just what he would find in a real battle.

Chaldean’s head carriage is the polar opposite, low and stuck out as if he is ready to battle all out if you asked him to in a no nonsense fashion – I would be on his side although going round a bend at Ascot would be a little bit of the unknown for him, but he seems like he wouldn’t be phased by most things.

It might be the fastest ground either of the front two in the betting have ever raced on.

If, like me, you can’t split the two market leaders and believe it will be one or the other then the betting without market looks a fair deal.
I have gone for Chaldean w/o Paddington at 11/10 William Hill (now evens). The other option is Paddington w/o Chaldean 3/2 skybet.

If one of my antepost bets on modern games or Highfield princess comes in I will definitely be getting stuck into Chaldean

He is incredibly straight forward and if frankie can stay aboard I’d say he will take plenty of beating

Either make the running or sit second rank

Kick 2 to 2 and a half out and ask the question of the rest of whether they are good enough to get past

They weren’t in the dewhurst or the guineas and I don’t reckon they will here either

I suspect he will be more of a natural miler than paddington who being by siyouni out of a montjeu mare may well be at his best over 10f

I like Chaldean but, if the rain doesn’t come, this could be the quickest surface he’s ever raced on – same deal for Paddington tbf.

    I’m waiting on the weather.

I love Chaldean too Ian but for this I’m siding with Paddington and although both would prefer more give in the ground Paddington seems to have the better action to cope with a faster surface. He won the Irish 2000 Guineas in good style and still looking a little green and with that high head carriage, he would have learnt from that.

Comparing the 2000 Guineas and the Irish 2000 Guineas the former was a much better looking event and we have
seen Little Big Bear who was 14/14 in the Guineas at Newmarket go on to win the Group 2 Nifty Fifty at Haydock and Auguste Rodin win the Derby.

Chaldean gave his all to win the 2000 Guineas, he battled hard, and tomorrow he has the chance to prove that he is a little pocket rocket but I think Paddington will have that little bit more to keep him at bay.

Looking forward to this one…Jac :rose:

Both Paddington or Chaldean have very strong chances but I’m going in again on Royal Scotsman, he is ever so muchly, muchly, much muchly, muchly, much, muchly much better than last time.. and Isaac Selby as I’d be kicking myself if he won unbacked

I can’t see past the front two but I have been backing Isaac Shelby and I know what will happen if I overlook him.

If we get the forecast rain, the front two absolutely have it to themselves for me.

If we don’t, I’m less sure.

Had chaldean from a mile out in the guineas and a massive paddington fan, both have gave me a great turn, very fascinating race, but paddington will win, he’ll outstay chaldean and he comes across as the type who’ll just keep finding for pressure, 3.7 currently, but if frankie wins a race prior, he’ll git 4.5 so
Ill probably wait until after the first two

Chaldean had drifted out but is now a general 6/4 chance.

No doubt the rain has had an effect but the “Dettori’s Last Royal Ascot” factor has no doubt played its part.

I can’t see beyond the front two now we’ve had 10mm on ground that was 6.8 yesterday.

I like Group 1 form in Group 1 races and I can’t be having the unexposed pair at the prices.

No bet which will probably mean Isaac Shelby wins, great race can’t wait.
