Is there any way of getting over the fear of spiders without actually picking them up?
I can’t stress to you enough how scared I am of them and i’m just getting so sick of screaming and jumping when ever I feel my clothes brush me! Yes, I know I have issues!
I honestly don’t know why i’m so scared of them, but it’s driving me insane and my family lol, anyone else scared of them?September 26, 2007 at 22:31 #116634Yes
Roll up a racing post
Twat the *******
Deal with it and move on
I know how you feel – it’d be okay if they paid rent
September 26, 2007 at 22:42 #116637Spiders are nice.
Spiders are our friends.
SNAKES, on the other hand…. snakes terrify me!
(Apart from animated ones like in Badger Badger Badger Badger….)

September 26, 2007 at 22:56 #116639haha I wish I could get that close!
I woke up yesterday morning with this tickly feeling on my arm, i went to rub my arm and there was a MASSIVE spider on it, I just jumped up, kicked the duvet on the floor and got the hell out of there and made someone check the whole room for it…..it wasn’t there
So….today going about my business, visited the loo, went to wash my hands and what jumped up, a MASSIVE spider must have been the same one! So got someone to come and get it, and it was GONE
SO IT’S STILL SOMEWHERE AND MOST LIKELY TO FIND ME TOMORROW
September 26, 2007 at 22:58 #116641Snakes aren’t that bad, would be a little scared if one just popped up in my room
but I could pick one up no bother, same with rats and mice really don’t mind them….Spiders Bees and Wasps are the ones you got to watch
Will be interesting to see everyones fears
September 26, 2007 at 23:26 #116648Statistically speaking, everyone will eat two spiders in their lifetime while they are asleep.
A mate of mine got bite by a camel spider, he’s never been right since.
September 26, 2007 at 23:36 #116651camel spiders – wow, they’re huge and they eat through the stomachs of camels and everything! cool! or perhaps not… (big, but not huge, and not spiders, and don’t eat camels stomachs from the outside)
i’m not bothered about spiders. i used to think i wasn’t bothered about snakes either, but i always have dark dreams which involve snakes so i think i must have some deep-rooted fear lurking within.
i think the animals we tend to be scared of or dislike irrationally are usually one’s whose mode of movement is either invisible or worryingly unlike our own, or a combination of the two.
thus…
snakes = no legs
spiders = legs tend to move to fast to see them
rats/small rodents = scuttle on tiny little legs (explains why bounding squirrels don’t bother us)also maybe this is why lions and hippos are much more dangerous (in broad terms), but we kind of don’t mind the idea of them, at least outside of a real-life one-on-one encounter…
September 26, 2007 at 23:36 #116652I quite like spiders and grays is correct when he says they are our friends

Wolf Spiderps. Dave you said your friend got bitten by a “camel spider” and hasn’t been the same since? I bet he’s sick of getting “humped”
September 27, 2007 at 06:40 #116660I have an issue with rats, not pet ones, just the ones that you don’t really want to see anywhere near your property.

September 27, 2007 at 06:59 #116663Yesterday,
I heard on the radio that if you leave "conkers" around the house, this will get rid of them.
Could be nonsense, but as we are in the conker season, it may be worth a try.

Camel spiders are the most disgusting spider in the land and I’d add a photo in here of one that I have from Dubai only RP would faint

Matron,
Sorry, this didn’t work for me. The 4 inch long spider took one look at the conker and thought, "ha, this is just a stiff", before proceeding to build his home in my bathroom. Maybe I should put the conker on some string and twat the effing spider

September 27, 2007 at 07:56 #116673Snakes are coolllllllllllll
I had a pet python in Australia he was called Hatband. I used to carry him around on the pony and he used to wrap himself around the front leg to hang on – the pony didn’t mind at all he was used to weird things (he had me as owner afterall
)RP- apparently a few conkers placed in a corner of your room will see off your little eight-footed critters with no trouble at all as they are unable to stand the smell.

Maybe your spider had a cold and couldn’t smell the conker

I don’t have a problem with them; just an item I heard on the radio that might assist somebody with an aversion to them.

I read it wrong I thought it was you and not RP – so I changed it
I didn’t really think a Matron would be bothered by a tiny little insect
