In the Post Data box, filter out those which have an X or ? in the ability or recent form box’s.

    Factorman,

An ‘X’ in the recent form box of the Postdata table is more of a negative, IMO, than a ‘?’.

X indicates poor recent form, while the ? shows that the horse hasn’t had a recent run. For the latter, Spotlight usually mentions whether or not the horse can go well fresh(positive) or usually needs a race or two to reach peak fitness(negative).

Thanks for that Artemis, shall factor that into future selections.

When a ? appears in the recent form box reference Spotlight for positive or negative comments.
Re Postdata Ability…. there must be at least one tick to qualify for selection.

Thanks Cormack15, shall resist the temptation to fiddle with the system too much and let it run.

Getting it’s share of winners this system Factorman – interesting to see what filters could be applied to increase profitability.

One filter which almost invariably improves any system performance (where it can be applied) is to back only those who’ve previously won over distance. I might go back over these after today’s results are completed and see what that does to things.

Just as I type ANOTHER BOLTS IN!!

The ‘must have previously won over distance’ filter doesn’t help (as yet) but I’ll continue to monitor along with a ‘previous course winner’ filter to see what it does over a longer term.

The system has had quite a good start but its early days. Am sure the (D) winner will improve the system and I’m tracking the C/D plus other factors as of when the Post Data filter came in.

The danger with so many selections on the same day is that any profits gained from previous selections can be wiped out with one bad days racing when outsiders have there way. It came off today but as sure as eggs is eggs that bad day will come and if it comes on the back of an already bad sequence then a losing run could go into high double figures.
The benefit of trimming the amount of selections is that when the market leaders are being turned over left right and centre not too much damage is done, however we don’t want to end up with very short priced selections and lose the 3/1 shots either.

Artemis chipped in with a nice peice of info and any research by yourself Cormack (and others) will be most welcome.

    Regards

    F

With fewer tipsters on Sundays there is less of a pool of opinion so shall monitor the amount of selections and the quality.
