Henry Cecil has been through an awful lot these last few years, and just when he thought a huge ray of sunshine was about to hit him at Newmarket this afternoon, the rain (metaphorically) poured on him from the heavens. No wonder he looked absolutely crestfallen.

Is that not a bit OTT with regard to Cecil??

Whilst I would of liked to see him win today, he did win the Breeders Cup, Champion Stakes and Nassau stakes last season.

63 winners in total last year, with 7 on the board already this term.

Hardly rainy days and to be honest hardly a trainer who is in need of a change of luck.

Would of liked to see him win but no more a case of hard luck today than it would of been for any other trainer..

Could someone find out if Special Duty’s owner was even at the races today? because Jaquelines Quest owner certianly was even on a 66-1 outsider.

Prince Khalid Abdullah was there – he personally received the winning trophy.

For God’s sake Mr. Wilson, are you coming or going? One minute you are saying your goodbyes and the next you’re posting again. Hopefully, you’ll stay around to learn a bit more about the game but if you decide to leave us then please close the door quietly on the way out.

JQ also improved massively today. She was Francome’s pick of the paddock and now has shown Group 1 form. I’ve seen many scenarios where a filly that has improved so rapidly, with good looks to match, perform brilliantly the rest of the season. Mr Martin has an excellent filly for this year IMHO and I hope he gets great enjoyment out of her in 2010. He most certainly deserves it.
