Couple of fatalities at Thurles today. Much as many of us take accidents as part and parcel of racing, I still think it’s worth remembering how deeply upsetting this can be for the lads and lasses who brave all the elements in taking care of their equine friends day in and day out, and become very emotionally attached and responsible for their horses’ well-being.
Having said that, it seemed an eternity that one horse was lying prostrate on the ground and even after a full circuit no screens had been placed around it. Please Thurles, allow the horse some final dignity.
