    Hello Carlisle…
I’m interested and delighted to note that you are trying to get a computer group together and although my current commitments would preclude my taking an active part at this stage I can offer to supply to the group the following software and documentation for analysis and evaluation:
    Compunter
    Combayes
    RaceElect
All these programs were developed by Padraig Kirby of DFL and are IMHO the most comprehensive and effective programs of their type.
Should this be of any interest to you please let me know. Unfortunately, I shall be away for the coming week but will try to access the forum if I can find an Internet Cafe!
Finally, can I recommend a book which I feel would be of benefit to the group’s library:
‘The Punter’s Revenge (Computers in the world of Gambling)’ by Tony Drapkin and Richard Forsyth ISBN 0-412-27770-0.
    Regards,
    Steve

    Hi elcartero (interesting name 8))

thanks for your reply, your offer is much appreciated. My hope is that the group will develop its own tailormade software. I envisage creating useful time saving tools that allow further logical analysis to grow.

The software programmes that you mentioned can certainly give a good deal of inspiration. It will be intriguing to investigate their approach to horse racing prediction. (they could, no doubt, offer good reinforcement/counterpoints)

Everything, but failure, is an option at this stage

Carlisle, I have deleted your address – TRF members interested please, use the internal messaging service. Your email would have been "harvested" otherwise.

Smartsig serialised this book (updated as well I think) over many monthly issues. I’m pretty sure I still have all my old copies somewhere so I’ll try and dig them out for you at some point.
