Not that I have them every week, mind. Don’t want to get fat(ter)
February 5, 2021 at 23:35 #1521493I have always had a fundamental issue with Fish & Chips Shops/Vans…I don’t like battered fish!
Chicken Balti Pie and chips is the best thing I’ve ever had from a Fish & Chip shop – not really in the spirit of such places, tbh.

Go for the Welsh “special” – half and half – chips and rice

Rice is just so bland, though. Same as lettuce and stuff like that. Why can’t chips, chocolate, cake, crisps, etc have the same calories as the bland stuff?
Why is life so cruel
February 6, 2021 at 15:41 #1521724There are various types of rice – Pilau rice isn’t bland and is a great complement to a King Prawn Pathia, sticky rice goes well with Korean Dwei Bulgogi, rice is an integral part of Nigiri Sushi, the list is lengthy.

February 7, 2021 at 11:57 #1521906It is an odd combination – now chips and gravy, in a butty, is gourmet food
February 7, 2021 at 13:22 #1521931Rice is very nice
Chips are best dipped
They both cheer up
a plate and far better
if no-one is looking !As the vicar told the
actress. If you
are a well rounded person,
you will eat
anything and everything.February 7, 2021 at 13:36 #1521940All things in moderation, gamble.
Having eaten just about everything at one time or another. I find myself indebted to Bill Buckley on Radio Berkshire who advised, if wishing to recreate the magic of the first-tasted feast in ones youth, to deny yourself treats for weeks on end (even though they are easily afforded) so they taste like they did that very first time when you next banquet on them.
Works for me.

It’s really opened my eyes to how food can open up new avenues. Problem is I dont know if I am chips or rice.
February 8, 2021 at 00:42 #1522153Variety is the spice of life and that cliche, allied with another – moderation in all things – mean you’re allowed to be both, gamble.

For many years it had never crossed my mind to have both chips and rice with my curry – I used to alternate between the two.
It’s only when I moved to Cardiff in the late 80’s I discovered the obvious compromise of half and half, which every takeaway seemed to offer and always seemed the most popular choice.
