I was stood next to Carter on a bus to Shanghai around 2014, oh that was the transport from Heathrow Terminal 5 to the Plane. Kept thinking I know this guy, only later I realised who it was, he is short for a snooker player. Selby and his entourage were on the same flight, where as Ali was alone, they were upfront, I was down the back.
From what Ronnie says, there is no way he can compare Saudi to China, he is a god in China and will be for as long as he is breathing. Its a very different culture and he will be whisked around A to B to C and on to D. Its fabulous to be looked after out there. I wonder if he fancies Korean Billiards, the foods better over there.Good luck to you with your lucky 15 Nathan, please share..
Probably opposite of mine..

April 19, 2025 at 23:18 #1727698We can’t be too far off a Chinese winner
The likes of Ronnie, Higgins and Williams won’t be around for much longer and Chinese seem to be producing the young players coming throughBlackbeard to conquer the World
April 20, 2025 at 07:31 #1727702“His antics are tiresome. I’m a fan and obviously love watching him play but he should have more respect.”
Same here. My patience with his attention seeking behaviour has worn very thin now.
I know Carter can be a difficult character as well but I hope he wins their match.

Ear plugs are your best hope.I fell asleep during the decider..
fantastic match though for the drama.
”We can’t be too far off a Chinese winner” It has to happen at some point, within three years Id say.
Just hope its not an Iranian this year, talking from my wallet here.April 20, 2025 at 09:33 #1727707Great stuff last night night, all credit to Lei, many others would have crumbled after losing those three consecutive frames especially given that he had his chances too. You saw the best of it Landafar, once he got in after a scrappy start to the decider he didn’t look like losing and didn’t even need those last couple of difficult reds.
It is notable how the UK names remain largely the same year after year but the Chinese players keep on coming through. Agree it’s only a matter of time. I’d love Ding to be the one to do it but time is probably running out for him.
Have to say I increasingly find myself wanting Carter to win next week. I’m sure O’Sullivan would find the motivation to play if it was for triple prize money in Riyadh.

April 20, 2025 at 14:15 #1727731Thats an understatement Nathan, I think Jones looked like a rabbit in the headlights, could not cope with that attacking style.
April 20, 2025 at 19:47 #1727777Good win by Mark Williams. It had the look of a match changing moment when the Chinese lad missed the red with the long cue and rest and so it proved.
April 21, 2025 at 08:08 #1727799One down of my four, the second will be checking out of his hotel this morning.
April 21, 2025 at 09:04 #1727804Quite an opening couple of days, two deciders and two 10-8 matches from five completed. We’re in for a treat if they keep this up.
April 21, 2025 at 12:33 #1727831I believe the BBC did not show the snooker on either of its main channels this morning due to the death of the Pope.
BBC1 became a rolling news service, despite there being a dedicated free to air BBC News Channel. Then all the BBC1 programmes were moved to BBC2.
No wonder the BBC has lost so much live sport.
April 21, 2025 at 15:29 #1727864There’d be uproar if people couldn’t watch repeats of Homes Under the Hammer.
It is a shame Eurosport is no more as I used to enjoy their coverage. It’s been absorbed into the far more expensive TNT. Snooker fans are now expected to fork out considerably more to effectively subsidise their Premier League rights, cycling fans are also similarly aggrieved. I fail to see in this day and age how it wouldn’t be possible to pay only for the sports you want.
I caught a bit of it this morning and John Higgins won a frame having potted just three of the reds. That must be some sort of record.
