Well it’s only what someone has put on a forum but it would make sense as that is when Nowtv launches and gives Sky a week ahead of the competition.
January 2, 2019 at 11:55 #1391090At 11pm they switched to sky sports news and skipped all later races in States. Santa Anita and Golden gates racing was still going on but they stopped the coverage from 11PM and switched to sky sports news. ATR used to show all Stateside races.
Also, any idea if they will they also show Dubai Carnival races?
January 2, 2019 at 12:17 #1391096Apologies if I’ve missed it, but I think the video archives are missing here.
Very useful source for me, and the old ATR races aren’t on Racing TV or the old ATR site now, and I can’t find them on Sky Sports Racing**
I know I can get them via Sporting Life site, but it would be good if they could be easily accessible on one of the two main channels sites.
**apologies if the replays are there, and I’m too thick to find them.
January 2, 2019 at 16:37 #1391107@venture to cognac I think there is a rights issue I am sure I have read this somewhere, ATR owned the rights to old Irish tracks but I am not sure if these transfer to rtv or not, also Sky did not have rights to irish as it was ATR who had the rights so they would not likely have the rights I assume this is one reason why atr website has been retained.
I assume Chelmsford rights all transferred over to rtv but it would depend on the t&cs and irish tv rights have never transferred before so there could be a dispute over who gets the rights to old races.
January 2, 2019 at 20:49 #1391131Is there an issue with the nightly US racing on Sky Sports Racing? Doesnt seem to be as many tracks getting covered at the moment, and then at 11pm whereas the feed used to continue it then simulcasts with Sky Sports News?
January 2, 2019 at 22:55 #1391136Maybe Sky could not sign up as many US tracks as ATR had, tv rights change all the time and this could easily change in the future, though remember it costs money to broadcast the US tracks it costs Sky nothing to simulcast Sky Sports News.
January 3, 2019 at 10:30 #1391155Steve, thanks for that update.
The good news is that the lack of replays, seems to be a high profile problem, and just seen on Twitter that they are “on it”.
Hope they get it sorted, as I really use them a lot.
January 3, 2019 at 11:39 #1391167Steveh31 – Its not due to tv rights but Sky sports racing closes their coverage at 11pm irrespective of whether the races are still going on in states. For eg, on 1st Jan they showed 5 Santa Anita races, meaning they have the right to cover Santa Anita. But did not show last 3 races as they were after 11pm UK time. Same was the case with Golden Gate races.
ATR used to show all races. For late night US races, even though they used to close the studio but stream the live feed. I hope Sky Sports racing sort this out as there is a separate channel for news already.
January 8, 2019 at 17:09 #1391821I know that it is early days, but I’m enjoying the new channel. I’m aware that is essentially the same channel, and with those involved, I will no doubt eat my words, but it feels slicker to me.
January 8, 2019 at 20:26 #1391841From past 2 days, no American racing being shown. I wonder why
January 9, 2019 at 08:34 #1391872Monday nights they will not show Stateside as that is the night Alex Hammond’s Monday Night Racing Review is being shown.
January 9, 2019 at 09:19 #1391873Am i the only one who hates the American racing they show anyway?? lol

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 9, 2019 at 09:48 #1391877Alex Hammond is dreadful, can’t watch her all day. Seems more concerned about how her tip has got on than the racing itself.
Most enjoyable item so far for me was the Joe Mercer/Mike Cattermole interview.
January 9, 2019 at 10:35 #1391886There is a glimmar of hope for Virgin customers but this is not from an official Virgin source so pinch of salt/fingers crossed

Sky Sports Racing HD (Virgin Media UK)January 9, 2019 at 18:55 #1391954I keep having a smile to myself every time someone hands over to Tony Ennis, who now grandly calls himself Anthony Ennis.
He must have asked people to call him Anthony for some spurious new-found respectability. Lord knows why.
I can understand it for Tony McCoy, who became Sir Anthony after he was knighted (that is usual in such circumstances) but why is dear old Tony Ennis so keen to have a bit of gravitas and grandeur?
He was commentating at Doncaster today and was given the name check “Here’s Anthony Ennis” by the William Hill betting shop presenter.
Ennis does a good job with his race commentaries and I like his voice and straightforward style but he will always be plain Tony Ennis to me.
Bob Cooper made the same attempt at trying to create fake gravitas when he suddenly became Robert Cooper years ago.
But worse was ex-ITV and Channel Four race commentator Graham Goode, who inexplicably insisted one day on his surname being pronounced not “Gudd”, as it had been for years, but “Gewd”, leading to Brough Scott to joke at the time that he “likes to be called Graham Gewwwwd these days”.
Pretentious or what? Where do these people get these delusions of grandeur?
January 9, 2019 at 19:27 #1391959Some people like to use there full name Stephen Dixon Sky News and Deborah Harry it’s not as if he has changed his name Anthony/Tony is his name and it’s his choice what he chooses to be called.
January 9, 2019 at 19:41 #1391963More like midlife crisis crusty patch I noticed he was TONY Ennis again on screen in the first at Donny. I mentioned it to the missus and asked whether she thought he had changed it back to Tony again and she replied, probably
I’m afraid I don’t concur with your high rating of TONY as a commentator though crusty
