Making his chasing debut tonight at Punchestown in the 6.20.
Looks like he is going to go off a very short price, 4/6 tissue price.
Looks like the ground is going to be heavy too so will be a hard slog out there.
May 19, 2009 at 18:54 #228719wont win i dont think he stays 2m so no chance 2m 4f heavy
May 19, 2009 at 19:44 #228731I’m guessing this might be the last chance saloon for this horse. On paper and on all known form he should easily dispose of this lot, but he’s not the most trustworthy and I certainly will not be shifting a penny in his direction.
Best watched if you have any reservations at all.
If not, be a hero.

May 19, 2009 at 21:32 #228745More saloon visits appear in order.
Never out of a hack canter – as his form demanded against his plodding rivals.
No regrets.

Like you say, against plodding rivals . but the horse can only win against the opposition that is put up against him.
A pleasing run.May 20, 2009 at 16:33 #22899012/1 for the Arkle Anyone? Thanks but No Chance on good ground!
May 20, 2009 at 17:23 #229008Interesting that Denis O`Reagan was so praising of him and expects a big improvement when he runs at 2 miles. Couldn`t really fault the performance.
May 21, 2009 at 04:39 #229137Good to see him win. So now he goes on good
and
soft ground?

I’m amazed anyone could say he wouldn’t win this which was near on the equivilant of a bad seller. Horse has had his problems but he finished a head in front of Quevega and 3 lengths behind Champion Hurdle winner Punjabi on his last run.
If any of that lot had run in that race they would have been tailed off without a shadow of a doubt..
If he is over his problems he could go to the top and be a lively contender for the Arkle.
He has one huge plus going for him and that’s the ease in which he travels.
I doubt if there are many horses in training with a higher cruising speed than him. However he has failed to find anything in a finish too many times now over hurdles.
I reckon whatever he did when he injured himself in Katchit’s CH has left a mark on him or at least is or was still bothering him the last time he ran over hurdles. He certainly never stopped like that when he beat Big Zeb and Osana over hurdles.
Could be something in his back that only flares up when he’s under severe pressure/has to quicken up, who knows? but if the same thing happens over fences he’ll be beaten by the first decent chaser he meets.
