    It’s possible that on occasion you have a point and that horses do make rapid improvement. This would particularly be the case with younger horses as they grow and strengthen, even within a season. After all we are talking about living breathing animals, and not just machines that you switch on and point in the right direction. In this case I believe you picked a poor example and one that didn’t support your case.

    Incidentally the horse mentioned by the bluster merchant at Kelso won this week, but at 25/1 and presumably unbacked.
