Someone was trying to find out what had happened to Sissoko on here a few weeks back .
He has appeared in OZ and had his first run since the 2021 Futurity yesterday , ran 18 lengths last of 8 behind Floating Artist another ex Euro , got 6 kilos off the winner over 2040 at Moonie Valley .
The stable got a win out of The Summit last week another ex Euro that failed in HK so still hope for Sissoko .August 13, 2023 at 09:18 #1659699That’s interesting – the HK Jockey Club site originally had him listed as ‘retired’, though that run does not bear well considering the promising sort he was when purchased after the Doncaster race.
August 13, 2023 at 10:51 #1659707HKJC website is not useful for tracking “retired” horses.
You need to check other jurisdiction’s records for any records after HK career.
August 13, 2023 at 21:53 #1659750Hi Cancello , HK shows horses just as retired from HK , a lot come out to OZ or NZ , some revert to old name , some get onto name number 3 .
If people are interested i am happy to start up a thread and post up some of these ex HK runners , and some of the ex Euros that pop up in some out the way places . I look through the entry lists a bit .
Sone good ones end out in outback/ country , US Army Ranger ended up rattling round some sprints in the country Victoria circuits .Ex Epsom Derby trial winner Gold something or other ended up at the picnic races few years back .August 14, 2023 at 15:51 #1659766Probably a good thing that he never won at Epsom as he’d have disgraced the Derby roll of honour even more that Serpentine as I doubt they’d have retired him, not having an attractive enough profile for a flat stallion. I remember reading that when Joseph O’Brien saddled him up on his racecourse debut he told Ryan Moore, ” this could get beat today and still go on to win the Derby”.As with name changing, it seems to be the norm in HK, should just let things be.
August 14, 2023 at 20:51 #1659785Out of Serpentine’s Derby a few ended up in OZ , one Mohican Heights had a couple wins but now been sold to Darwin up in NT . Ran poorly twice up there , including the Darwin Cup last week. Trainer said does not like track surface up there which is a problem as they all synthetic /dirt or dust in area .
I see at Cairns this weekend a horse called Olympic Korchnoi is entered up , placed in a few Brazilian Derby’s , became Star of Silence in HK now in Northern Queensland .
Wrens Day also entered up in same card , he was second to Cracksman in 2018 Prix Ganay . Had a few wins in OZ but he won’t be far off retirement looking at his last few runs , he’s 10 now . - AuthorPosts
