Should there be a time limit for withdrawals on going. Was the Lincoln spoilt betting wise by the will it won’t it debacle. The weather forecasts are there, they can walk the course, Should we have to wait?

It would make no difference, they could use self certification if required.

Until there is a system to get accurate and meaningful going reports from the courses the "true going" does not always become clear until after the first race has been run.

In the case of the Lincoln the "will he , won’t he" saga was not ideal. However at least connections were open and honest about their concerns. What would the reaction have been from punters had connections said nothing and then withdrawn after the last race had been run?

If there was a time limit there would also need to be some flexibility to cater for circumstances when the going changes on the day, or even mid-meeting.

So I would say good in principle, as long as we have a robust, independent means of proividing accurate going reports in the first place.

Also as Yeats says even if there was a limit trainers will find other reasons not to run.
