1/1000 – I have no idea what I’m talking about.
April 5, 2022 at 18:28 #1591288I think Seven Barrows are fusing his bones with Adamantium, like Wolverine from the X-Men.
In fact, I know this is the case. Professor Mick Fitz told me telepathically.

April 5, 2022 at 18:43 #1591295So it wasn’t the ground at Cheltenham, then?

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"April 5, 2022 at 18:43 #1591296Maybe the press release contained a misprint and Shishkin really has a rare boner disease.
For a gelding, that would certainly thicken the plot. Plus, I might have wasted my time looking up obscure bone diseases.
April 5, 2022 at 21:16 #1591317I’ve heard off some it’s a brittle bone disorder I can’t see how it won’t be long term and how he should be fine for next season after bones finished whatever they doing. I associate brittle bone that that what humans get and how easily break etc

April 6, 2022 at 13:43 #1591410Listening to Henderson waffling away about something he can’t explain properly, brings to mind the fact that he attended the same school as our hapless PM.
And other old boys of said institution, when asked about BJ, have explained that they are actually given lessons in how to avoid answering difficult questions, as part of their preparation for running the country.
April 7, 2022 at 05:31 #1591600Guys the next time Shiskin runs ….play or lay ?

January 9, 2023 at 17:31 #1630286January 9, 2023 at 17:53 #1630288The Nicky vagueness continues as he grasps at the latest discovery for a reason Shishkin might have lost form. Diving a bit deeper (as the Racing Post reporter should have done) it seems close to impossible that a horse with a flipped palate would be missed by connections, especially during exercise.
January 9, 2023 at 20:48 #1630307It’s like Altior all over again , I still can’t believe they jumped up in distance so quickly , a proper Champion chase should be right up his street … The Arkle was , it’s fairly obvs he just not the horse he was

January 9, 2023 at 22:22 #1630315I’m pretty sure that back in the day the racing media quickly lost interest in horses that had fallen off their pedastals until such time as they recaptured form.
Remember that, when Nicky Henderson makes an apparently ludicrous defence of a Shishkin or an Altior it is as a result of a racing journalist phoning him, not him phoning them.
If the racing media stopped asking him daft questions we’d stop reading the daft answers.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 9, 2023 at 22:30 #1630317Heartwarming to know I wasn’t the only TRF member that was at Cheltenham last year on the Wednesday when it was weather that would of made north eastern India look like the Sahara desert!
January 9, 2023 at 22:46 #1630320I said on another thread (prior to this last health issue) that they should have given him another try over 2m following his Tingle Creek run as going up in trip was a knee jerk reaction which was tried with Altior who was never the same horse afterwards.
They said Shishkin has lost a yard of pace because he was being pushed along at various times at Sandown and yet I clearly remember in various races won in the past where Nico had been niggling at him from time to time…the Sandown run was off the back of enforced box rest from his bone disorder diagnosis so he was entitled to need the run and be ring rusty and until the mistake at the Pond Fence he was still in the mix and said mistake looked to me more about his lack of race fitness finding him out.
I have never seen him as being anything but a 2m horse even though his half relations both won PTP’s over 3m and his dam is a half sister to to Stayers Hurdle runner up Voler La Vedette – moving him up into the 2m4f division (Ryanair) brings him slap bang up against Allaho who is a stronger stayer (having won over 3m at G1 level beating a 2x King George winner and 2x Gold Cup winner 14L and 15L respectively) and the speculative Gold Cup entry based on the reasoning that he won 2 PTP over 3m as a 4yr old seemed wildly optimistic but not as baffling as not giving him a QMCC entry which (even before hindsight) now seems even more idiotic….well to me anyway.
Depending on when he will be ready to run (assuming the Game Spirit will likely come too early?) the likelyhood of being able to get a prep in before Cheltenham will be dicey and will they even want to go straight to Cheltenham with him? If so the Ryanair would surely be the only option as running in a Gold Cup off an injury interupted preparation trying 3m2f for the first time doesn’t seem a thing Hendo would do…..would not even surprise me if they waited for Aintree and the Melling Chase or if they were hell bent on going 3m maybe even the Betway Bowl????
Whatever they do, he is now clearly a watching brief horse for his next run until he can prove that he can come through it with no issues arising.
January 9, 2023 at 23:12 #1630323It was reported that Toronado suffered a “displaced palate” during the 2000 guineas
He was back in time for the st James Palace stakes and should have won that although his opponent was a monsterWhats the difference between a displaced palate and a flipped palate?
“minor setback” doesn’t sound too bad but the horse is clearly fragile.
