He prob won’t , and that why he’s looking over his shoulder as Cromwell and De Bromhead catch him up , Mullins long gone … It’s his loss
October 22, 2025 at 18:20 #1742736He has racked up eight winners over the last two days, four timers on both days.
The more I know the less I understand.
October 23, 2025 at 05:19 #1742755It’s not like they are all ridden the same either , wonderful horseman , I really can’t believe every yard doesn’t want him
October 28, 2025 at 06:09 #1743230Because other yards have their own jockeys? This forum is just becoming a refuge for wish-fulfilment fantasists….
October 28, 2025 at 13:34 #1743243You have come to that conclusion very quickly, please explain!
I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysOctober 28, 2025 at 18:04 #1743259Space every football team has its own players … they move about though , jockeys move yards …. Bowen moving yards or getting a large owners retainer is hardly unlikely , Google McCoy and JP McManus …
November 14, 2025 at 14:29 #1744455How on earth he got Wade Out to win that novice chase at Cheltenham today is beyond me.
The more I know the less I understand.
November 14, 2025 at 14:32 #1744456Take a boo, son.

“Take a Bowen”I’ll get me coat
November 14, 2025 at 14:37 #1744458Hell what a ride, reminds me of ..oh whats his name..wichita lineman
November 14, 2025 at 14:43 #1744462I’m not a great fan of Bowen though I do agree that he’s unbelievably strong in a finish.
I don’t think that’s a great ride though. He put the horse into most of the fences on the wrong stride and probably hit every fence on the track over the course of 2 circuits.
November 14, 2025 at 15:01 #1744466The horse was a total monkey (trainer says he is lazy) and he wasn’t helping him that much jumping wise and then had his ears pricked jumping the last and all the way up to the finish line.
The best bit of the ride was when the first two kicked on off the top of the hill (started racing too early and paid for it) he didn’t try to go with them and then stayed on up the hill as the other two folded.
Interesting that the trainer said one more run and then back for the NH Hunt Chase at the Festival.
November 14, 2025 at 18:41 #1744536I wonder which Cheltenham race he’d have been aimed at if the NH race was still for amateurs only?
November 14, 2025 at 20:23 #1744551Brown Advisory I would imagine
November 15, 2025 at 15:28 #1744657Who are you a fan of GM
November 15, 2025 at 18:08 #1744688Cobden
Skelton
Townend
O’KeeffeBowen seems to want to ride out the back far too often for my liking. The more praise he gets for winning from nowhere, the more he does it. Why can’t he have the race put to bed before the last more often? Too many of his wins occur in the dying strides and it’s rarely a comfortable watch.
His style just isn’t for me. Waits too long, too often for the grandstand finish.I haven’t been impressed with him on Long Draw on more than one occasion now. His ride on him at Haydock was an absolute shocker. His ride on Daylatedollarshort a couple of weeks back was another shocker.
I don’t even rate his win in the novice chase yesterday. He hit every damn fence on the track over the course of 2 circuits for Gods sakeWhen Skelton rides from the back I often have a pretty good idea if I’m going to go close from 4 or 5 out. With Bowen, I often don’t have a clue.
For me, a great jockey can ride from the front, middle or back depending on whats needed. I’ve never been a fan of the Carberrys or Spencers who just want to sit out the back every single time.
November 15, 2025 at 19:31 #1744693I think last season’s Irish Grand National is a prime example of Sean riding from the front , Towsend is a very good jockey , however I’m not convinced the strongest , Skelton has improved a lot , Cobden hasn’t had the greatest start to the season but is a good horseman , Okeefe is fine to , I’ll be honest none of them are as good as Sean , have to remember he’s not riding the quality of horse Towsend is
November 15, 2025 at 19:48 #1744695HDLG, I didn’t say he can’t ride from the front. It’s more that he chooses to ride way out the back 9 times out of 10 and I’m just not a fan of that.
Every time he arrives late on one he gets hailed as the second coming of Jesus and I think that could end up going to his head.I agree that he’s not riding the quality of horses that Townend or even Skelton is riding but I also think his regular hold up or overly patient tactics would be coming under a lot more scrutiny if he was.
He is one the strongest jockeys in a finish I’ve ever seen though.
