Saturday at Musselburgh, maybe not that big a race, but really interested in Aristo Du Plessis at the 20/1 currently available!
I’ve already had a play, and knowing my luck of late he’ll come out tomorrow! If he makes it to post though and can rediscover his form of around 12 months ago the handicapper has given him a real chance IMO…
He went off the 7/2 favourite in this race 12 months ago off a mark of (150)…as it stands at the moment he’s set to go off a 20/1 shot off a mark of (135)
I know he was in much better form this time last year and went into the race off the back of two course wins and he’s been miles off that this season but I reckon there’s a chance he could run much better on Saturday…
He’s an absolute picture of a horse to look at as I found out when seeing him at Haydock on betfair chase day…chasing didn’t seem to quite work out for him and he quickly went back to hurdling…by their own admission the yard have had problems for quite a while and many horses have ran well under par…
I remember reading before his last run at Kelso that James Ewart thought he was showing signs at home of coming back to his best, but unfortunately the ground appeared to turn against him that day…
If he gets his favoured forecast good ground on Saturday and back at a course he goes really well at I can see him coming right back to something like his best…I’d have liked to see a couple of the yards horses run a bit better lately but never mind…and I’d like to see them employ their 5lb claimer Steven Fox for the ride…
There’s a few dangerous looking unexposed types in there but off (135)…15lbs lower than last year (where he didn’t run the worst race) and 10lbs lower than his last winning mark, I really fancy his chances…
February 2, 2017 at 18:19 #1285361Been waiting for Aristo to go in. This seems like a big prize they’d want to win, and as you say, 20/1 is nonsense.
February 2, 2017 at 19:04 #1285370Last few winners of this have been off a feather weight which is interesting, ADP will be on 11-4 but may have been laid out foe this. I like Optimus Prime being a Transformers fan, and could have them all stretched if continuing his front-running tactics… Will wait to see how the ground fares before having a bet though…
February 3, 2017 at 11:16 #1285452Nearly got all my wishes!
5 are out so only 9 rivals to worry about…didn’t get Steven Fox as Lucy Alexander riding, but I love the application of first time blinkers!
Just a slight worry there looks to be a few other front runners who could potentially take him on…see PP have opened at 16’s…I still reckon he’ll be at least half that by post time..
February 4, 2017 at 11:37 #1285683Backed Dominada at 10/1 as I think the step up in trip is a major plus.
February 4, 2017 at 15:19 #1285752Aristo’s gone at the game
February 4, 2017 at 15:23 #1285753Yep…I give up!
Two decent bets today which I fancied strongly…this and Missed Approach at Wetherby….
