BBC4 is the jewel in the BBC’s much-tarnished crown.
Let’s help make sure it remains so

September 1, 2011 at 20:29 #369639Ive signed already
its the only channel that i look each night to see whats on
i am also working my way through The Killing (brought to us by BBC4 of course)
I never expected a series to come on our screens that would be in the same league as The wire (which i was lucky enough to watch from early on) or Sopranos
it is simply the best dectective series I have seen by a massive margin. It is drama at its absolute best. Quite stunning for a whole variety of reasons. Yes its been hyped a lot in recent months, but it is exceeding every expectation.
September 1, 2011 at 20:56 #369642Get rid of BBC4 & BBC3.
If they’ve not got any money to bid for sport then they’ve not got enough money for fringe channels that no-one watches either.
If they’d bin the repeats, the BBC could have two truly great channels instead of four mediocre ones.
September 4, 2011 at 21:01 #369969Just got back from holiday and read this; I hardly watch anything else..in fact I said on holiday that one of the things I wish for is to have the time to sit and watch BBC4 every night. Viewingwise it’s the best thing ever..it’s not even expensive telly either, with so many of the programmes being archive stuff.
September 5, 2011 at 23:53 #370095Another fan of BBC4 here.Their music coverage is always very good.
Also like to watch their Storyvilles, the one that featured the Paul Nolan yard was excellent.
September 6, 2011 at 05:26 #370114Already signed. Agreed re the Storyville on Paul Nolan’s yard.
September 6, 2011 at 09:45 #370137Im with scamperdale! Would never watch anything on these channels, but each to their own!
September 8, 2011 at 09:18 #370432I’ve signed…thanks for the link, Drone.
Truly wonderful series such as Wallander and Spiral would probably have never seen the light of day if it were not for BBC4.

I’m not saying I don’t watch either of the channels, just that not many do.
My opinion is that yes, there is some good stuff on BBC4 (and BBC3 occasionally) but I don’t think there’s enough good stuff to warrant four channels.
The best stuff from BBC4 ends up on BBC2 eventually so we might as well save ourselves a few quid & cut out the middle man.
September 23, 2011 at 19:16 #371782Old Grey Whistle Test
