“Disputed lead, headed and tracked leader after 4th, bad mistake 7th, pushed along and lost second just before 4 out where blundered and dropped to rear, fatally injured (jockey said gelding landed badly at the 6th last fence and the 4th last fence; vet said gelding was lame left-fore with an over-reach wound)”

You have to wonder why he didn’t pull him up rather than make him jump 3 more fences given he was 50 odd lengths behind.

    Belinda Keighley posted this tribute

“The toughest day & longest drive home ever last night without our beautiful flying grey. So many amazing memories but we were going to make so many more. The sweetest kindest boy, I’m sure he knew how much he was adored ❤️💔fly high gorgeous Sarasota Star 😞💔”

That’s a terrible decision by the jockey … why on earth did he continue????

Totally agree with Lochinver…the jockey should be banned…poor horse made two horrendous errors…why continue especially after the second of these? Was it really worth continuing for £350? Disgraceful.

I haven’t been looking at the Memorials lately because it has been getting me down how many beautiful horses are losing their lives, but I have to say goodbye to Sarasota Star who was badly let down by his jockey who could have saved his life.
My heart goes out to the Keighley’s and all those who loved him.
    💔Sarasota Star R.I.P.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...
