Lost in the 4.20 at Fairyhouse.
The more I know the less I understand.
April 6, 2026 at 17:10 #1762212Horrible looking injury. He was a decent money spinner for the stable.
RIP to himApril 6, 2026 at 17:25 #1762217Gutted to see this. I just checked the result and was delighted to see Energumene had won, but then scrolled down and saw Saint Sam had been fatally injured.
RIP Saint Sam 😢
April 6, 2026 at 17:34 #1762218I’m glad he was almost out of picture…..that looked absolutely horrific
Rest in peace, boy.
April 6, 2026 at 19:01 #1762225I don’t normally watch Irish racing but I have these past couple of days. I have been shocked to see so many horses at Cork & Fairyhouse have dreadful falls at the final fence/hurdle. The commentator very rarely comments on the fallen horse but does mention the state of the jockey. As has already been said Saint Sam’s fall was out of picture, but what you could see it was a terrible fall that cost the poor lad his life. Had it not been on ITV I very much doubt that his fate would have been reported, so sad RIP Saint Sam🥀
I was concerned for The Jukebox Kid as he dropped away quickly, I do hope he is ok 🙏
April 6, 2026 at 19:15 #1762227Well, there might be a reason for a jockey who is 0 from his last 50 rides in IRE to take more risks during a race. When you’re out of form a lot of things go against you. Hope he gets a change of luck in the next few weeks.
April 6, 2026 at 20:04 #1762233I have racing radio on which is ahead of the tv coverage so I can turn away if they say a horse has fallen but I, too, saw it out of the corner of my eye. He was having a great time bowling away in front. Most of Mullins horses tend to blend into each other with me but Energumine is an old favourite and I was so pleased to see him win and hoped they’d announce his retirement. Poor Saint Sam’s fall took away any delight from seeing him win. There have been some horrific falls in Ireland over the past few days but I haven’t heard what the outcome ones were.
April 6, 2026 at 20:06 #1762234Sad news. RIP.
April 6, 2026 at 21:46 #1762244Missed it, thankfully, as was away visiting a friend. I was on my way home and pulled in at the side of the road to watch the Irish National, had a few minutes to spare so looked at the results first, saw he hadn’t even been in the first three so clicked into the full results and scrolled down to his entry in the race report.
It’s always a gut punch, isn’t it, when it’s one of your favourites.
I really liked him, and was so worried about him when he fell at Listowel a couple of years ago.April 6, 2026 at 21:56 #1762246“Well, there might be a reason for a jockey who is 0 from his last 50 rides in IRE to take more risks during a race. ”
Did he ask them for strides that weren’t there or something? I didn’t see any of the racing today apart from the National.
April 6, 2026 at 21:56 #1762247Was an horrendous fall, he did not deserve this end, after being so keen and full of himself before hand rip xxx

April 9, 2026 at 08:57 #1762405My god ex-Ruby. You really do present a lot of misguided balderdash as fact. I appreciate that this is a forum of opinions; but it is difficult to take yours seriously. All jockeys can deck horses at any time, whether on a hot streak or not.
There is absolutely no basis to your assumptions. Time to become a racehorse trainer????
