April 26, 2011 at 17:58 #352284Just heard this sad news about Saddlers Wells. A truly great racehorse and stallion. Glad to hear that he lived to a good age and died peacefully in his paddock. Was lucky enough to see him at Coolmore several years ago and he was a fantastic looking stallion with a great temperament too. Hopefully with his offspring already proving sucessful at stud his bloodlines with carry on for a very long time. RIP old boy

April 27, 2011 at 19:16 #352426RIP to an incredible horse. An incredible stallion.
I wonder how many foals he sired in his long stud career? Assuming he started at 4 and could have carried on well onto his teens, it must be a phenominal number (and so many of them good one too). I’m sure someone will tell me.
PS – I have just discovered that he did not retire from stud until he was 27!! 27! What a horse!
