Had Janadil each way myself – for me the obvious choice to pick up the pieces of those trying to go with the winner…who is altogether different gravy at this trip. No doubt they are glad the Ryanair came along with the 4th day as I couldn’t see him in either a QMCC or Gold Cup.

Just a real shame that the John Durkan is run too close to the King George as you could see him easily blasting off and winging his way round Kempton.

I thought this was underwhelming. Allaho is clearly high class but unlike last year he had nothing to beat.

Janidil, Eldorado Allen and Fanion D’Estruval are nowhere near Grade 1 class. I doubt Shan Blue is up to top company either.

Melon is admirable but a perennial bridesmaid who is not getting any younger.

Conflated won a Grade 1 but that looks more and more like his one day in the sun.

Allaho had a penalty kick into a net without a goalkeeper.

Now if it was a three day festival and the Ryanair was not there… ;-)

Am pretty sure had Minella Indo ran to his Gold Cup form he’d have beaten Conflated in the Irish Gold Cup, CAS. But Indo probably needs a better test of stamina than that race gave. Form with the consistent third Janidil (who finished 14 lengths 2nd yesterday) looks solid enough.

ie On “form” imo Conflated would’ve been around halfway between the excellent Allaho and Janidil.

Most of the horses effective at both 2m5f and 3m2f would probably think they have a better chance of beating the Gold Cup favourites than Allaho in the Ryanair. Doubt Conflated would’ve stayed in the latter and being Gigginstown the Ryanair would be a more tempting target than for others.

Although I was against the Ryanair when it first started – and this season may not have been the best of standards looking outside the top two… Do feel it has generally proved itself over the years. Most years there is now enough good 2m, 2m5f and 3m2f horses to go around.
