I agree Charlie with DDS!
Been saying this on other platforms…Phillip Hobbs would be crazy not to target this race
Looking through his whole chase record he’s 3 from 7 over the minimum…two of those against UDS, who at 12 was surely way past his best.Over longer trips he’s 3 wins and a 2nd from 4 starts and he really should have won the race he lost…cantering all over Lostintranslation but going for home too soon and being run down late on.
He comprehensively beat Lostintranslation in the JLT jumping and travelling really well…watching that race back and some of the poor efforts he’s put in over two miles it’s a real head scratcher why they’re not going down this route.
If campaigned for this he’d be my banker of the festival..
December 8, 2020 at 18:45 #1513573Totally agree with defi , the question is we need to see the fire is still burning , a 100% defi can win this , guys after sat do you think frodon should run here to, he may have been feeling that previous monster but he was disappointing
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 8, 2020 at 20:35 #1513580I think Frodon is at his best when racing at Cheltenham. Loves the challenge and performs well. Can see the angle on Defi – just hard to know. I backed Min ew at 11s before the John Durkan so im hopeful of a repeat of last season
December 12, 2020 at 00:16 #1513891After that run last week, I’m still hopeful that they’ll send Frodon here. I think it’s the logical target.
Big decision to make with Master Tommytucker. Don’t want to bet him before the off in The Caspian Caviar, so I’ll hoprfully get a chance in running, but it’s risky approach, as most firms super switched on now.
December 13, 2020 at 16:38 #1514130It’s a bit of a gamble with the ground, but I don’t think Mister Fisher will go bigger than 20/1, so I’ve taken that. I was impressed with him on Friday. He looked as if he had improvement in him.
December 28, 2020 at 15:14 #1515653After that run today, Allaho at 16s looks good value to me.
December 28, 2020 at 15:27 #1515658I dunno, I agree with Richard Hoiles, I think he’s a bit one paced and won’t have the toe for a Ryanair. I suppose if he doesn’t stay that leaves him tripless
December 28, 2020 at 15:29 #1515660If Richard Hoiles dont rate Allaho then lump on folks
January 8, 2021 at 11:12 #1516830Added Min 13-2 ew
January 9, 2021 at 16:15 #1517045Hoiles is a great judge. Wholly agree with him aswell regarding Allaho, he’s Monalee 2.0, a tripless beast at the top level.
January 9, 2021 at 19:07 #1517059Allaho hasnt been ridden right so far this season imo. Being up there bowling along in this would be better, like he was doing last season. Mullins has 3 who like to be up there so he will have a plan.
January 9, 2021 at 19:51 #1517061Hes not travelled with his usual enthusiasm which is worrying
Id say melon ran a very very good trial for this in the savills chase
January 12, 2021 at 19:05 #1517344Just took some 70.0 on the exchanges for A Plus Tard.
Not too sure 3 mile 2 Furlong around Cheltenham is a given for such a young horse ATM especially if it is testing. If he wins the Irish Gold Cup well and goes that route fair enough.
January 12, 2021 at 21:54 #1517350He’s going straight to the GC isn’t he Botchy?
January 20, 2021 at 21:32 #1518389I’ve made a complete mess of this race, betting Real Steel and Riders On The Storm, and neither of them look like great bets now.
I’m just going to go with Min now at 6-1. I should just have went with him from the start.
January 22, 2021 at 08:08 #1518734FYI Botchy
“A Plus Tard was very impressive. It was obviously a step into the unknown, but it has opened up so many more options and one is clearly the Gold Cup,” said Chris Richardson, managing director of owners Cheveley Park Stud.
“He likes to run left-handed and he likes to run fresh and we’re very fortunate to have a selection of special horses.
“He was eyecatching in that performance. It was a bit of a punt to see if he stayed, but occasionally you have got to roll the dice and it worked out a treat. He’s very exciting and a serious star in his own right.
“I don’t think he’ll run at the Dublin Racing Festival, I think he’ll go straight to Cheltenham for the Gold Cup, as he runs so well fresh. So I think we’ll just go there.
January 22, 2021 at 09:53 #1518739Cheers Charlie, i must of missed that. A right sledgehammer blow that one.
