Fractured his femur. AOB says out for a few months, I’d say six months at least. You don’t want to be coming back quicker than necessary for something like that. Must have been in some serious pain. Get on the strong stuff Ryan and see you soon x
August 30, 2025 at 14:19 #1739151Get well soon, Ryan. 👍
August 30, 2025 at 14:47 #1739159Get well soon – O’Brien will be searching for jockeys as Ryan is slated to miss the St Leger meeting, Irish Champions Weekend and Arc Weekend with a further problem being that Wayne Lordan has a riding suspension which rules him out of both the St Leger and Irish Champions Weekend.
August 30, 2025 at 14:49 #1739160Maybe Padraig Beggy or Emmet McNamara are available?
August 30, 2025 at 14:54 #1739162Yes I hope it mends well too without much delay. I can see a certain Belgian jockey licking his lips.
August 30, 2025 at 15:44 #1739168Wishing Ryan Moore all the best and a full recovery. Quite amazing that’s he’s been riding for a couple of months with this injury. Iron man.
August 30, 2025 at 15:47 #1739170Colin Keane and Dylan Brown McMonagle are 1st and 2nd in the Irish Jockey Championship, Dylan rides a lot for Joseph so that might be an option and Juddmonte might not be represented in all of the relevant races.
August 30, 2025 at 15:51 #1739172ITV just said a stress fracture whilst RP saying ‘broken leg’ but given that he has been riding with it for a few months, I wouldn’t be shocked to see him back riding in some of those big meetings, maybe Arc weekend….it all might very well depend on how stable the fracture is.
August 30, 2025 at 17:11 #1739181Out for the season confirmed. Hope he makes a full recovery and it’ll be interesting to see what jockeys the Lads will want to have on their horses.
August 30, 2025 at 20:39 #1739197Firstly all the best to Ryan in his recovery. I’d imagine the lads will be approaching soumillon on a short term contract. He will want to ride on irish champions weekend, arc weekend and breeders Cup and I’m sure with his knowledge of the coolmore horses he will fit in seamlessly. Plus he’s a top jockey, only behind Ryan himself as top jock out there. You know it makes sense lads.
August 30, 2025 at 20:52 #1739198Seamie may have been hasty in jumping ship in hindsight. Had he been at ballydoyle would have got some plum rides. He’d be perfect on delacroix. Rides leapordstown as good as any.

It looks like it could be our man from Brussels according to the Irish Times today. Some lovely shots of Delacroix in the Racing Post and Times. He’s a proper looking stallion who always wants to paint a picture, it seems.
September 2, 2025 at 02:30 #1739294The logical choice. Rides out at ballydoyle occasionally apparently. Knows leapordstown and the curragh and obviously longchamp. Plus had a few rides at the breeders cup. Will know the horses too. If Moore out for a long time I’d imagine he would move to Ireland.
September 5, 2025 at 12:42 #1739392I have only had two seasons (in over 20) where I made a reasonable amount of cash. The first was when I noticed an apprentice was amazing – he kept winning at big prices. So I kept backing him and he kept winning. I thought this was easy, but at the end of the season everyone, including the bookmakers, latched on. Now a 4/1 shot (7/1 when he was an apprentice) was 5/2 and a horse whose fair odds would be 1/1 was now 2/5. So you could not win long term backing this apprentice.
Of course, this apprentice was Ryan Moore, without doubt the best jockey out there.
So, thank you Ryan. Hope your leg is healed completely soon.September 5, 2025 at 13:28 #1739393I was reading he probably did it running, as he does a lot of it for fitness. And he had been riding with the injury for two months
