Winka Watson
Lost In Wonder
Allegretto
Colorado Rapid
Desert Dew
Eradicate
Funny… I felt sure Alderney was going to in today.
June 20, 2007 at 23:32 #65773Manduro and Barshiba kept the betting account looking healthy for the time being yesterday, and I’d hope to improve my financial situation with Winker Watson in the Norfolk. He impressed many with the manner of his victory on debut, and whilst the form isn’t up to the standard of some in this race it’s hard to ignore how highly his trainer rates him. I’m not a fan of Chapple Hyam, not even close to in fact, but I’d expect him to start the day with a winner.
The Oaks was not run to suit Dalvina and she’s taken to reverse Epsom form with doubtful (in my eyes) stayer All My Loving. A line through Sudoor gives her the beating of Cosmodrome and the fast ground should represent few problems.
The Gold Cup looks a penalty kick for Yeats, Le Miracle being the one for the forecast.
The Britannia is as difficult as ever, but Eddie Jock appears to be a massive price at 50/1, despite carrying top weight. He ran a blinder behind Prime Defender on his reappearance, form which looks incredibly strong now, and failed to run his race behind the improving Phoenix Tower. A decent pace over a mile looks ideal, especially on fast ground, and I can’t see him not being there or thereabouts.
The final two races on the card look like small stakes events at best, but Champery and Dansant would be my selections.

June 21, 2007 at 00:11 #65774Bulwark e/w @ 40s – I dont think many will agree but with a decent pace on I think he’ll be thereabouts, half the field are questionable stayers.
Strike the deal e/w at 12– Questionable whether the ground will suit but hes bred to have plenty more. Possibly Magical speedfit e/w too at 50-1. I like the first five in the betting but not at their prices.
SHMOOKH has always looked like a potentially very nice good to me and I’d back him in the Britannia.
Supersonic Dave too
June 21, 2007 at 07:46 #657752.30 Sharjah Spirit really impressed in both runs and at the prices makes more appeal than the principles.
3.05 No bet i don’t think. like all my loving, especially if the ground has softned up some but the poor record of oaks winners in this has put me off at the price.
3.30 Yeats I think that one explains itself
4.20 No bet but will be watching keenly to see if Artimino is as good as I think he is.
4.55 Seems a fairly weak race imo, not convinced about Kid Mambo the way he was ridden in the Derby suggested to me he might not have a huge amount of toe in a finish. Selection is and each-way bet on Ascalon Unexposed and came out of that hot newmarket maiden featuring Diamond Tycoon and Lucarno to win next time.
5.30 Man of Vision Progressive type, laid out for this. A neck second to Silkwood before going on to win comfortably last two time out.
June 21, 2007 at 08:06 #65776All My Loving in a different league to today’s rivals, imho, and she should win by daylight. 6/4 is a major play for me. And as for fast ground being a problem, she seemed to handle it pretty well at Chester.
June 21, 2007 at 08:10 #65777I wasnt saying faster ground is a major negative, im saying softer ground is a positive. the only thing that put me off really is the shocking record of Oaks runners in the race. Im not going to take her on but at 6/4 – 11/8 shes short enough to put me off.
June 21, 2007 at 08:23 #65778Two for me today
Winker Watson – Didn’t look primed for his debut and still won comfortably. Chappel Hyam has been pretty honest about his horses chances this year and I expect the horse to be fully wound up for this.
Kid Mambo – Ran well for a long way in the derby cutting out the pace and I think if he gets to the front he’ll be hard to peg back especially with the drop back in trip. His form warrants a shorter price in my opinion so i’ve had a decent bet on him.

June 21, 2007 at 09:03 #65779ROYAL OATH (12,5) kept things floating yesterday, having availed myself of the 10`s ITALIAN GIRL i was expecting a bumper payday but it wasn`t meant to be despite travelling like the best horse in the race for much of the way!!
Another day,another dollar !!
2.30 WINKER WATSON looks betting material despite being what seems a shortish price, whilst people are looking what he beat and the time of the race i think more consideration should be attatched to that race being two months ago,he`s been truly laid out for this race,if the going remains on the fast side i wont be looking any further,Warsaw is 2 from 2,he had the run of the race over 5F last time and im rather surprised that the trainer as kept him at the distance as everything points to him requiring further,Spirit of Sharas is a good looker but im convinced easier ground would suit,Bespoke Boy would be my idea of the forecast as he ran a cracker at Epsom where he got messed around, still,he might be the type for undulating tracks as he seems well balanced so i doubt he will have that advantage today.
3.05 Not keen on the trainer but i think the “Grand lodge“ daughter DALVINA as plenty in her favour today, trip shouldn`t be a problem but i think the key will be the lively ground,at the price she`s worth a bash against All my loving who`s bred to appreciate the monsoon season and who might be a short runner,Cosmodrome is respected because she too looks like she will benefit from the distance.
3.45 YEATS, not a lot to add
4.20 COLORADOS RAPID Given an appalling ride by Darley at Pontefract despite winning, this horse looks better than a good h`capper and that will do for me,Jo`Burg could place at bigger odds!!
4.55 BIG ROBERT (25,0) and CHAMPERY (15,5) will do for me,they have enough form in the book to be taken serious and at likely odds its the way i`ll be booting!!
5.30 FILIOS (9,5) should progress further and with Dettori taking over from Nicky McKay where almost sure to get an half decent ride unlike the last two times this horse as appeared on the track,in all fairness the jockey had to ride from a poor draw last time, today,he will be looking to come through them,11lb rise appears harsh but i think it`s justified and at current prices i will make this horse my “Bet of the day“
Bon Chance!!
June 21, 2007 at 10:59 #65780I fancy a few big prices to go in today, yesterday was a good day with the lay of Notnowcato, win of Nanina and Barshiba.
In the Norfolk the betting would say it is a 2 horse race but imo if either of the 2 stables trained Spirit of Sharjah then he’d be near fav. He has been very impressive in his 2 starts and must go close. Roker Park could reach a place at a bigger price as he beat the the well regarded Bertyfour 1st day out.
In the Ribblesdale All My Loving has 2 very solid runs behind her but i couldnt have her at 6/4. Dalvina had her excuse in the Oaks and is worth another chance. My bet in the race is a lay of All My Loving and i can see the winner come from a select 3 in Dalvina,Cosmodrome or Shorthand.
The Gold Cup will be won by Yeats but there is more value in the place market. Cecil is a great old stick but imo he doesnt like Ascot and may not reach a place. I think Jonathan Peases mare will get the gallop she needs and might well be 2nd or 3rd.
In the Brittania my nap of the day in Buccellati, his last 2 runs have been so luckless and if he gets a run today he must go mighty close. At a bigger price the well thought of Thunder Storm Cat could run a big race and his 2 runs this season have also been a bit troubled.
Kid Mambo ran a gallant race in the Derby from the front and had it been over 10 that day he may well have been placed. Big Robert has had a pretty dissapointing campaign so far this season but Willie still thinks the world of him and he may reach a place.
The last race could see a boil over, Terry Mills could be going for a double with Wandle and he holds this one in very high regard. Walking Talking is another who has place claims.
June 21, 2007 at 12:50 #65781The Royal meeting has always been a graveyard for me, and this year is no different. I generally dont play heavy at all.
4.20 Canongate e/w
4.55 Zaham is a lay for me
4.55 Desert Dew
June 21, 2007 at 13:20 #65782bookies cant give warsaw away at the minute!!!
June 21, 2007 at 13:47 #65783Winker scoots in. Looks like he wants further and will improve for the experience. He’s a very nice horse.
June 21, 2007 at 13:51 #65784much credit to that man again in the saddle, thought he was going to hang himself out of it and take some others with him at one point, kept his composure well to straighten him up again.
Just my opinion, but I believe All My Loving will lack the speed rather than the stamina.
June 21, 2007 at 13:57 #65786i think she would lack neither if it were softer, as it is im not sure. massive plunge on silkwood.
June 21, 2007 at 14:12 #65787My quietest day. Have nibbled at Baddam and Allegretto against Yeats, apart from The Winker who landed the nap of the week (see one bet only thread).
