We seem to have a large number of “serious” threads running at the moment, so for a bit of “light relief” I have gazed into my crystal ball to preview Royal Ascot 2059

Any other racing predictions looking forward 50 years?

55 years since Donal Nolan last trained a winner, but he stills continues to mop up the Scottish Horse Racing Authority ‘best turned out’ awards.

And featuring the 2m 2 1/2f Grade 1 Cheltenham Gold Cup, for those horses who don’t quite possess enough stamina for the 2m 4f Cheltenham Marathon.

A race in which the Ryan Moore trained "Mr Happy" is the 2-1 Fav! The media friendly Moore, multiple flat champion jockey, told reporters Mr Happy was certain to stay despite never having run over a trip of more than 1m 4f in the King George at Sunbury Park.

Only 30,000 people turned up for Ascot over 15 days, with many blaming the British Sharia horse racing association for banning woman and alcohol.

The huge debate on wether or not Great Leighs will reopen is still carrying on.

Royal Ascot break new ground by relaxing the Dress Code so men do not have to wear ties on the Friday.

Kempton on Boxing Day 2059 also have a new format with the 6 race King George Day followed by the Breeders Cup under the lights following the closure of every American track due to no one allowing slot machins into the venues.

The King George VI now being run over 6f on Polytrack ever since the Dangerous Animal Sports bill of 2022 under the New New Labour Govm’t of David (now Lord) Milliband banned racing over obstacles.

‘And there’s the Duke of Edinburgh, now 138 years old at the head of the Royal procession. He’s been criticised in the news recently having been accused of making politically incorrect remarks on a recent state visit to China.”

Won’t we all be owned by China come 2059?

either that or some mediaeval Islamic Empire.

Thankfully, either way, I will be long gone.

    press release:

After much campaigning from trainers who have been finding it increasingly difficult to recruit apprentices able to ride at less than 75kg it has been decided that the minimum weight for the 2059 Flat season will rise to 80kg, with a commensurate increase in top weight to 95kg in order to preserve the handicap.

    note to editors:

For the benefit of readers over the age of 80, who may appreciate the long-defunct Imperial Measures, you should append with the approximations 12-00, 12-7 and 15-00 respectively.
