I quite like Crossed Baton for this race, but the biggest concern for me is that Dettori is booked for what looks like the stables number one runner, Global Giant.

I thought that he would go on to bigger and better things after his win in The Churchill Stakes, but he wasn’t very good at Ascot. I think that connections put that below par performance down to the ground.

I won’t bet him just now, but I do think that 14-1 with Skybet is alright, because even though Dettori is booked for the other one, the weather forecast looks beneficial to the chances of Crossed Baton.

The going is good to firm at the moment with not much rain forecast for Haydock I can’t see the going changing. I am playing with the idea of a bet on Global giant at 9/4 best price with bet365.

I took the 9/4 with bet365 now cut to 7/4.
