Horrible couple of hours for horse racing. First Espoir D’Allen and now Roaring Lion.
Last year’s champion 3 year old Roarig Lion has died from colic.
RIP
August 23, 2019 at 17:55 #1451872Oh no, I thought with recent updates seeming more positive that he would pull through. So very sad that he didn’t make it.
August 23, 2019 at 18:22 #1451875Just too bad to be true. Must have endured some horrible weeks….
Rest in Peace Roaring Lion
August 23, 2019 at 18:43 #1451881I’m sorry; I shouldn’t use an expletive on this thread but my brain is screaming ‘OH F***’. [and now I’m going to have a little cry…]
August 23, 2019 at 19:03 #1451891What a warrior. Both on the racecourse and in life!!
Sleep well brave one
August 23, 2019 at 19:05 #1451892Very sad as it seemed he was looking likely to pull through – for the second time today (it sucks) condolences to connections for their loss.
August 23, 2019 at 19:09 #1451896Seems to have taken a turn for the worse, taken to the equine hospital and sadly put to sleep.
‘A true champion who fought and fought’: Roaring Lion put down after battle with colic
RIP Roaring Lion.
August 23, 2019 at 22:20 #1451937Such sad news and this really is so hard to cope with after the recent loss of Sea Of Class.
What’s breaking me up is the fact that we will never see any progeny of either of them and they had so much of life ahead of them, so much to look forward too. Two beautiful souls taken too soon.
I hate the bl@@dy colic that gives hope and then takes it away.RIP Roaring Lion
Goodbye beautiful boyThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...August 31, 2019 at 14:23 #1452508Now, where’s Michael with his love of horses and compassion for the loss of two recent high profile horse?
Of course if this had been a selling hurdler breaking a leg at Catterick, he’d have been on here like shite off a shovel, followed of course by the contribution of slo-mo, frame by frame analysis of how it actually happened and why.
Please join us Michael, we value your insight and wish to share your love of these equine warriors?
August 31, 2019 at 15:55 #1452516Michael has been blocked griff.
I think he made 300 posts whilst a TRF member all of them here in Memorials, His last post was horse who was still alive and has thankfully now been deleted from this Thread by the Administrators along with Michael.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...August 31, 2019 at 18:22 #1452523Thank you for the update Triptych, a decision long overdue.
His motives, to me anyway, were blatantly obvious.
September 2, 2019 at 10:23 #1452696So Michael80 has left the Forum. Okay he might have been connected with Racehorse Death Watch but at least these horses get a mention and I for one like to see them recorded.
September 2, 2019 at 13:35 #1452712I am of the same mind as I believe every horse deserves a place where a respect can be paid in memory of the service they have given and condolences left for connections and it is a shame that a lot of horses now may be missed off this list as Michael has now gone and from now on it will probably be more high profile horses whose names will appear here as those are the ones that we will hear about from sources such as Racing Post.
Personally I dread visiting this Thread Crepello and although Michael reported the deaths he was never emotionally involved about any of the horses he reported, whereas I fall at the first hurdle there as so many horses over the years that have stolen my heart and it gets broken every time one of them appears here.
Perhaps someone will take up the reporting of individual horses once again maybe leaving a respectful distance between the sad loss of the horse and the posting on Memorials so that connections have time to mourn.
Just like yourself I feel it is a shame that not every horse will now be recorded but it doesn’t mean that we don’t think about what horses do every day of their lives anywhere in the world and the great debt that we owe to them.

Here’s to all horses great and small
