Does anyone know if there is an online updated list of horses who have been retired for whatever reason? I’ve looked through the Racing Post & Sporting Life sites but can’t find any sort of indicator to show that this or that horse is no longer in training.

    Many thanks.

I doubt it. Retraining of Racehorses try to get as many people as possible to register their ex-racehorses that are being re-trained, that way they get an idea. I had the big idea once that all trainers should be accountable as to which horses leave their yards, for what reason and whether they were re-homed, go for breeding, unsound/injured. That would go someway to understanding the statistics or lack of them.

Thanks for the reply. I’m only interested in horses that are no longer in training but no matter.

You could check with organisations such as The Racehorse Sanctuary http://www.racehorsesanctuary.org/ They regularly publish a newsletter about which retired racehorses they are looking after.
