I don’t like “defending its title.”

The horse hasn’t got a “title” – it’s simply trying to repeat last year’s victory in the race.

What’s happened to hello, alright, watcha, how’s it going or even hiya. I ask because on TV programmes I notice people say hey, I can honestly say I have never heard anyone say this in real life.

The more I know the less I understand.

“Loaded” fries – you mean chips with what couldn’t even remotely be described as a full portion of something on top, right?

Absolutely this. I think menu BS could probably have a thread of its own. I don’t eat meat but even I remember a time before it all had to be served ‘pulled’.

Posh crisp titles amuse me, like “Sea Salt and Balsamic Vinegar” or “Four Cheese and Spring Onion”.

And why does caramel always have to be “salted” nowadays?

I kid you not, my local Co-op was selling roast potato flavoured crisps last Christmas

Believe it or not, I have an Instagram account and one thing I find endlessly morbidly fascinating is all the food clips.

But, quite apart from the fact I really don’t want to watch people eating the end product, I am struck by the amount of tenner-a-go street food that appears which is basically a load of (cheap as) chips with a thimbleful of something exotic that might be interesting – if you had enough of it to actually be able to taste it – teaspooned on top.

Young people down Camden Market being ripped off by slightly older young people – nothing much changes.

‘Street food’ is another thing that is now so far removed from its roots that it’s meaningless.

    “Pan-fried”.

In case you thought they might have fried it in a sock.

Foodie what an irritating word that is, even worse foodies that forage.

The thread that keeps on giving. A genuine laugh raised by Gladders and yes the word ‘foodie’ is awful. Are ‘foodies’ better at eating than the rest of us or something?

    “No; just fatter.”

There are some really fat people doing food clips on Instagram.

How can I take their recommendations seriously?

    They will obviously eat anything.
