@Richard88
i think he has only gone and done it!Ones that particularly make me cringe are ‘lean in’ and ‘my truth’ / ‘your truth’.
July 5, 2023 at 19:55 #1654456“Loved ones…”
July 5, 2023 at 22:25 #1654465Another thing that needs to stop is the personification of inanimate objects. ‘I am a reusable bag’, ‘keep me in the fridge and enjoy me within three days of opening’. Eff. Off. See also the apparent ‘birthday’ of the NHS. No, it’s the anniversary of its founding.
I suspect this sort of nonsense is propagated by the same types who commit the various crimes against the English language described here.
July 5, 2023 at 22:35 #1654466100% agree again Richard!
Another thing that really annoys me is use of the word “curated” in all kinds of everyday contexts where “chosen” or “selected” would work just fine. Utterly pretentious.
July 5, 2023 at 23:11 #1654470“I’ve curated the favourite in the opener, thank you for reaching out to me for my advice.”
Said no one at a TRF Lounge get together at the races unless, that is, they wanted to be dragged outside the venue by the Lounge massive for a richly-deserved good kicking.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"July 6, 2023 at 06:48 #1654476I’m glad I no longer go to work.
Do Organisations still have “Mission Statements” and “Vision Statements” ?
July 6, 2023 at 16:32 #1654524They have ‘step processes’.
The things I want most in life are the things that I can't win.
July 6, 2023 at 23:23 #1654546Another one used in marketing a lot now that I hate is “grab” e.g. “grab your tickets”, “grab this offer”…
It sounds so selfish, and has a touch of aggression to boot. It conjures up images of shoppers fighting over the latest must-have Christmas toy, or squabbling over the last set of reduced underwear in the Boxing Day sales.
July 7, 2023 at 03:38 #1654552The organisation I worked for, lost feet on the ground (is that allowed?) because
of developing numerous useless “specialist groups”, with fancy names and all indoors,
to then pass on their “expertise” to the people who were doing the work we all should
have been doing. Instead they would pull you off the street in groups, to listen to some
arsehole who was trying to make a little empire for themselves.I remember one starting with a guy, who wouldn’t know what the real world looked like,
saying “I know a lot here have a great deal of experience, but I’m just going to run this
up the flagpole and you can let me know what you think” He might as well have said, “right,
you can start the tomato throwing at will” (his name wasn’t will). I could go on.July 7, 2023 at 06:53 #1654555Ha, BigG, that reminds me of when a new Chief Executive was appointed where I worked, and the first thing he did was set up a PPU (Policy and Performance Unit), consisting of a manager and four other people.
Once a year, I would see the Chief Executive, so I took the opportunity to ask him what this unit did as the cost was £250,000 a year. I explained that people often asked me that and I could only answer “I do not know”
He looked at me and with a superior tone stated ” They do good things for me”.
I then said, “well, I think we have finished now. I will see you again in a years time, to which he replied “that soon”.
I didn’t see him again as he left before another year, and the first thing the next Chief Executive did was disband the unit !!
July 7, 2023 at 13:16 #1654568At least the new Chief Exec had the common sense to get rid of useless unit.
Your old CE sounds a right tool !!July 7, 2023 at 13:48 #1654571Yes BigG. During a meeting he once stated that he knew better than the others attending the meeting about what needed doing, because as he had been awarded a first class honours degree in Philosophy,Politics and Economics at Oxford University, that made him better than them.
Another attendee, being totally unimpressed and disgusted then said ” Well that makes me better than you then, because I went to Cambridge” !!
I believe that Matt Hancock also obtained a PPE at Oxford. Hmm.
Refuse To Bend. “Step Processes” Maybe one day it will all go back to the future and some bright young thing will do some “Blue Sky Thinking” and reinvent “Objectives”.
I think later this afternoon I will indulge in some Blue Sky Drinking.
July 7, 2023 at 14:29 #1654578“Philosophy,Politics and Economics at Oxford University”.
I believe it is also known as Media Studies For Posh Kids.

Proof positive the British education system is flawed by any meritocratic measure.
Those who got to Oxford or Cambridge are meant to be the academic intellectual elite and I’m just not having it that Hancock is much above average intelligence.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"July 7, 2023 at 23:18 #1654636He not only got a degree but a first. How can Oxford University still be taken seriously when it tries to convince us Matt Hancock is in possession of a first class mind?
July 8, 2023 at 08:10 #1654653Sporting cliches that irk:
‘Back-to-back’ meaning consecutive
‘Got a result’ meaning a win. Is a draw not a result?
‘Hit the ground running’ meaning performed well
‘Did their chances no harm at all’ meaning a winJuly 8, 2023 at 15:14 #1654744I really don’t like fillies and mares races to be called distaff.
The things I want most in life are the things that I can't win.
