    No winners yesterday.

    Running total: -£28.14

    No selections today

I’ve been using a couple of filters as an experiment namely

Race Class <=4 and Stake =>£10.00

and that is why there are no qualifiers today.

Looking v promising, discretedata but I’m not sure I understand the rationale behind the method…perhaps you could elaborate.

    I started a similar thread last year……

    http://www.theracingforum.co.uk/horse-racing-forum/systems/horseracebase-system-t83664.html

The rationale, and I use the term loosely, was that using the HRB ratings at that time, I sought to identify horses of the same or a similar rating and then rank them. The theory being that, Horse A, a 200 rated horse would have a better chance of success in a £2000 race than Horse B a 200 rated horse in a £50,000 race.

I simply multiplied the rating by 100 and divided that figure by the race value. Using the example above this is how the figures would look:-

    Horse A (200*100) divided by £2000 = £10.00
    Horse B (200*100) divided by £50000 = £0.40

It seemed a good idea at the time to use those resultant figures (the £10.00 and £0.40 in the above example) as a guide to the amount to be staked on each selection. I simply posted daily, a maximum of four top-rated rated selections I think it was, that carried the highest stakes.

I had to pull the plug on that thread but this one carries on in a similar vein albeit with a couple of filters for race class and the amount to be staked.

Because of the filters there are no selections today (Monday 31 January 2011).

Many thanks, disc…..makes good sense to me now.
I like the class filter and wonder whether you have checked out the viability of a field size filter.
Incidentally, I subscribed to HRB as a result of reading some of your earlier posts and I’m very impressed with their base ratings…I get the impression that you are no longer using them so I wonder what ratings you are using now?
I fully accept that if you tell me. you may have to kill me!

No, I must admit I haven’t checked out the possibilty of adding a field size filter however it’s something that I’ll have a look at now you’ve mentioned it.

I’m pleased you’re pleased (!) with HRB and the good thing is that it can only get better provided members continue to give feedback as to what features they’d like to see incorporated in to the System Builder and the other sections of the site.

As you’ll probably have gathered from the above comments I’m still using HRB.

You may be interested to know that I use the HRB ‘My Daily Report’ utility to produce the qualifiers by ticking the boxes for

    Prize Money

    ,

    Race Class

    , and

    Total Rating

. Finally from the drop-down list bottom left of screen, I click on

    Use UK Races Only

    .

The resultant report, downloaded in to an Open Office Calc spreadsheet, provides the raw data required to produce the selections posted on this thread.
