Not a problem-was trying to tidy it myself.January 7, 2010 at 15:44 #268555Hi,
I don’t think we’ll get anywhere e-mailing them. They have never been very forthcoming with information. They did help me out once when I needed it, so they can be ok, but there is something not quite right with all of this.
I don’t buy the internal differences part. It is true that they used to regularly update the service and added new pieces to it quite frequently. I noticed that the column where they used to give information about headgear etc, wasn’t being used, and I had noticed that there weren’t the updates that there used to be, but I wasn’t too concerned about that. I know one member of longstanding was, though, and he left a few months ago.
They did concede that the way they terminated the service was unprofessional. Small comfort to the members who have been left out of pocket. We know it’s unprofessional! We’ve been screwed by their unprofessional attitude.
To do this to their members and then state that they want their members input into a new service is the height of cheek as far as I’m concerned. I asked them about that, but again, I received no reply.
I would like my money back from them but I’m quite sure that they will have that covered. Interestingly, their website is still taking orders as far as I can tell. There is no message saying that the service has been terminated, at least there wasn’t when I looked about 30 mins ago.
This is a bad way to treat members and a real shame as well because the product was really good and the best for getting the most from horse racing. It’s a pity that the people who run it aren’t a patch on the product.

As they admitted in their first message ‘The old buggy software which is very slow, prone to errors and completely out of date.’ I would think you have a good case to claim your money back as the goods are not fit for the purpose they were intended for, though you might need the small claims court to achieve this.

In my line of work as a Roofing Contractor, I see monies being unpaid all the time.
There is no real way of making them stump up the cash.
The amouunt of people I have outstanding me £50-£100 on owed money is unbelievable.
Its a waste of time going to court, financially & in time wasting.
One guy was due me £115 & I took him to court as he was an arse, kept stalling the case & I ended up dropping it as too much time was being lost on a small amount of money.January 7, 2010 at 18:26 #268610Hi
New to this forum and registered because of this thread which bought back some happy memories. I purchased and still have lots of these programmes, Compunter, Combayes, Bet Better, Punters Pal etc etc.
I would echo an earlier post and would say the ‘C’ Module in Compunter was very effective.
Have managed to get the Pro Punter Amiga rom working in an emulator although if I have time to input the data required is another matter.

once you get used to PP you can do an 8 runner race in about half an hour.
When inputting speed figures for instance , do all of them on speed, same as form ratings-anything-just cycle thru the horses names in that way.January 8, 2010 at 09:10 #268715Just for the hell of it I am downloading ‘Racing Sense’ by Simple Software.
It is based on ‘The Solidus’ a book on the working out of speed ratings.
I tried it before but found it cumbersome and not very user friendly. It is supposed to have been updated but I do not hold out much hope as the web site is all over the place and the links do not lead to where they are supposed to. Like writing a book and putting the chapters in the wrong order with the wrong title.
I’ll get back if I make any sense of it. If not I’ll suggest it is renamed to ‘Racing Nonsense‘.

I received an email from Mick Johnson over Christmas stating that several improvements had been made to the programme recently. I will be interested to know how you get on.

I got the same email, that’s one of the reasons I decided to give it another go.
The download is unbearably slow. I should be able to download a 200MB file in a couple of minutes, this took over an hour.
I’ve installed it and it is just as clumsy and non user friendly as before. The help section is not much use.
I think the idea is to pay a tenner a month for the data base updates and daily declarations and just press one of ‘Calculate the whole days racing’ buttons.
Yesterday’s declarations for Southwell were included so I was able to press the ‘Calculate the whole days racing (Default)’ for that meeting. When it finished I couldn’t figure how to look at it’s findings. After a bit of messing about I pressed the ‘Export Tips’ button and waited while it wrote a report to a text file. This contained its selections for Southwell, none of which won. I don’t think I want to pay a tenner a month for this. There is a forum which is less active than the RaceXpert forum.
January 8, 2010 at 15:01 #268778Does anyone use Proform Professional or Raceform Interactive? If so what are your views?
January 12, 2010 at 07:56 #269410Been sending emails asking for a refund immediately-without an answer.Really poor show if they think all subscribers going to jump aboard another ship with them after the appalling way they have treated them.
January 12, 2010 at 15:16 #269471Got an email-sorry to lose you & getting a refund.
Better PRJanuary 12, 2010 at 16:41 #269482Good result Biotechy glad to see your persistence paid off. Hope you get the refund and they are not just stalling.
January 13, 2010 at 10:17 #269585I will just have to keep checking, no money so far, but will wait & see.
January 13, 2010 at 13:00 #269610hi, as i said previously, i moved to racing sense after the electronic formbook folded. concentrating on certain races i make good (imo)profits. Also, i find the software easy to use and Mick the owner is more than helpful
terryJanuary 15, 2010 at 11:22 #270018i have a knack of stopping this thread !!!
January 15, 2010 at 11:58 #270025terrycorner,
