Ile Atlantique 11-4
Despite the removal of the Turners as a G1, I’ve still managed to get Mullins bingo wrong and backed him for the BANC before his chase debut. Reluctantly chucked a bit more on for the Arkle at 20s as I would be annoyed if he won today and I’d backed him for the wrong race. What a muggy reason for backing a horse.
Can’t help feeling that, with the sad demise of It’s For Me and Ballyburn not laying a glove on Sir Gino, he’s been hastily shoehorned in as Townend’s 2 mile ride. But hey, it worked for Gaelic Warrior. Ile Atlantique might not quite have his engine but he’s a straighter, better jumper. Backed him here at 11-4. Naas is a stiff enough track and the ground might slow the others down a bit, though ITP and Firefox are formidable opponents.

Ile Atlantique now single figures for the Arkle. Third favourte behind Sir Gino and Majborough.Value Is EverythingJanuary 5, 2025 at 18:25 #1717602Thanks GT. I had thought he might be ridden more aggressively today but perhaps they wanted to conserve him a bit as plan is to go to the DRF it seems and it’s only a few weeks away, maybe they want to put his wind under as little pressure as possible too.
