August 17, 2024 at 14:23 #1704814The article talked a lot about In Running betting and Less Liquidity in the Lesser races.
Suppose I haven’t realised much of a change because of concentrating on top quality pre-race betting which has held up more than other types. True, I myself no longer go racing, so no longer have bets in grade 3 and 4 races. Although could do with better liquidity in graded races too. Usually takes a while to get my money on bit by bit by bit the evening before racing.Decrease in money staked over recent years and the bigger bettors struggling with affordability checks and / or retiring – is a problem. Racing has always been an older man’s sport but seems even more so these days. Presumably with football betting becoming a bigger thing, probably fewer younger potential gamblers becoming interested in horse racing…
And with more information out there from a greater number of places, there’s a greater number of knowledgeable punters around. Fewer less knowledgeable punters laying horses.
