Hi everyone, first post on this forum and I’m looking for advice already!

I’m moving to a new house this week and we have been clearing stuff out that’s not wanted or should I say stuff that the wife wants me to get shot of!

A few years ago I started collecting Royal Doulton & Royal Worcester racehorse plates. I came across a box of them whilst clearing the loft and they are still in their original boxes with the certificates. They never seen the light of day in the house due to my wifes dislike of horse racing, think she is jealous of the attention I give it!

What I wanted to know was, is there anywhere that’s suitable to sell these plates? I know about ebay, but I’m looking for an alternative, as I’m not really sure how many people that love horse racing use this and I think only this section of the population would be interested in these!

    Welcome to the forum.

They sound like very decent items to own. First of all Ebay is the biggest auction in the world, so if you did list them on there I am certain you will get racing enthusiasts giving them the once over. Also, if you have a price in mind, you could always set a reserve so that you don’t let them go on the cheap. All in all it wouldn’t cost you more than a fiver to list them, and if you put your reserve on then there is no danger of them being sold cheaply – i’m sure £5 is worth the risk.

Also, you can do a search for a specialist auction (I don’t know of any sorry), I’m sure anyone who can use google can almost find what they are looking for. I am also certain if anyone reads this and knows of any specialist ‘horse racing’ auctions they will let you know.

But whatever you decide, I wish you the very best of luck in flogging your items. Let me know how they sell!

    Mike

ps: I can come and collect them for a score if you like 8)

The plates are now listed in the classifieds section, so please feel free to have a look!

I was going to put them on ebay as suggested, but because we’re all racing people on here, I thought there’s more chance of people appreciating them!
