I got bored so I thought I would run a project using Raceform Interactive.
I wanted to know using the BHA ratings, plus every horse over 4yo that ran in England and Ireland, to determine the class of each racecourse.
No surprise that Ascot came out top.

August 4, 2012 at 15:12 #408931Don’t suppose you can break down the numbers/percentages of active horses into classes, ie, how many/what percent of current racehorses compete at each class level?

August 9, 2012 at 10:31 #409318Hope you don’t mind me asking BB but how does it determine each figure for each track?
Had assumed it was an Average winning rating but Downpatrick in the 50’s puts the mockers on that (jumps only etc).
Thanks
Martin

The BHA class pars are for the flat only.
Using the Raceform Interactive Query tool and using the "Aggregate" function in Excel 2010.
I took the BHA ratings for every winner from 2005 up to 2012, I then calculated the median figure of all the BHA ratings to arrive at a BHA racecourse class par.
If you want to check out the BHA ratings for Downpatrick etc:
