September 25, 2007 at 08:23 #116296There are too few details in the article for anyone to be able to pronounce on the continued running of Dona Chepa with any degree of sanctity.
Is she being mullered by a distance each time, or totally tailed off after a furlong or two? Is she showing any demonstrable sign of being mishandled by the trainer, or being allowed to continue despite exhibiting clear physical and attitudinal problems which should have her taken off the track for good forthwith?
There was a hell of a lot more to Quixall Crossett’s story than just sending a slowpoke out to battle 103 times (104 including his point-to-point second) without success – I would not be in any hurry to rule out the possibility of similar with Dona Chepa.
