Rounds the week off, and definitely not having an Antepost here, as record in it is pretty shabby.

Long term fan of Stratum, and having won this last year, I was tempted by the 16’s, but even with Buick booked, I’m not tempted early, as he’s got an entry a week later. I’d love to see him go for The Galway Plate, but first things first I’d love to see him declared here.

The other I like is Falcon Eight, but he’s one who’d have to atone for a poor show in this last year.

    Definitely holding off

I might be mad but I have backed slow old boat Wordsworth. Although I am a little worried about the trip being on the sharp side for him. ;-)

Still (used to be 2m6f34yds) the longest Flat race on the Calendar, I think, though Pontefract have a marathon race distance too.

Literally no Flat racehorse is bred to stay this distance nowadays and those who do are just, well, WEIRD.

Calling The Wind is one of my favourite racehorses – effective from 1m4f upwards and placed in a November Handicap, a Cesarewitch and this last year.

    He should go well.

Wordsworth for me.. I don’t think he is a boat just that he isn’t a group 1 performer
This level should hold no fears. The favourite is a very good horse but has the going against him

Waiting for trueshan to be pulled to back Falcon Eight

Wordsworth is an absolute yak imo

Falcon Eight will love this ground he ran badly last year as it was too soft for him

As yaks go, this one has an OR of 109, and has been runner up in a Queen’s Vase, third in an Irish Derby, runner up in a Grand Prix De Paris, fourth in a Sagaro Stakes and has won a couple of races.

That said, I have no immediate plans to back him today!

Does Alan King get fined for declaring Trueshan but not running him, like he did in the Gold Cup with no material change in the going?

High definition vs wordsworth would be interesting as the ballydoyle yak race

Happy to stick with the original pair here, but still anticipating a Rule 4 here.

    Falcon Eight 6’s
    Stratum 16’s

Can’t see there being anywhere near enough rain falling to change the ground enough to be safe for Trueshan.

Nate The Great I think will run a good race and I will have an ew nibble on him but really shocked to see Andre Fabre with a runner in this in Timour, a horse that has never ran further than 12F and has never run on anything quicker than good ground….he will be in for a rude awakening thats for sure.

There will be a 36% reduction factor for Trueshan.
Agree with you, LD, Nate the one to win most money…

    Backed:
    Falcon Flight 5/1
    Calling The Wind 13/1
    Nate The Great 18/1
    saver:
    Wordsworth 7/2

    Hoping Trueshan would run.

    Stratum
    Each way
With main rivals out even though ground not ideal will make a bold bid.
    Wordsworth
    Win
The way jockey has been riding will also be in with a very good chance here.
