Think the race could be run to suit Tamayaz more than the other big two and am surprised to see him as big as 2/1 now. Will also be be backing his pacemaker who’s 100/1+ odds are insulting considering the form he brings to the table.
September 27, 2008 at 01:39 #182452What a race it is going to be tomorrow though.
Tamayuz, Henrythenavigator and Ravens Pass.
Interesting race and should be a good one.

I would expect Tamayuz to drift even further tomorrow. It wouldn’t even be the biggest surprise to me if Raven’s Pass went off 2nd Fav on the day!!
Thats not to say he won’t win of course. Just an opinion on his likely SP.
September 27, 2008 at 03:41 #182467I’d love to see Raven’s Pass win this – surely he deserves it! Too close to call for betting purposes though. (I’m struggling to find anything to bet on tomorrow…)
September 27, 2008 at 08:46 #182475Will enjoy the race between the three major players for the contest only – the ground will be stable enough to cater for all three IMO.
Little E-W interest on Sabana Perdida. Just for that shock appeal when she stuns everyone by holding the lead until one or two of the big guns run her down, or not!
September 27, 2008 at 12:02 #182478The day has come!
With Good ground, as it looks it’s going to be, I think Henry will win it.
Tamayuz second and Raven’s third.
Best of lucks to everyone, and enjoy a crackin’ day at Ascot.September 27, 2008 at 13:33 #182496Wondered how you have three pounds between Henry and Raven’s Tenbob? Surely on form ratings it should be closer than that? Raven’s is getting closer with every run.
Mark
my ratings are not weighted just points
based on speedfigures, racingpostratings, money won, highest value race placed, last race class distance and weight, going, collateral form, trainer form course and current, jockey course form.race trends.
all fed into my computer and bingo.
i am not clever enough to work out weight ratings etcDon’t wish to appear that i am criticising you Tenbob. Anyone producing their own ratings deserves credit. But…
If a horse wins a group 1 and then subsequantly wins another couple of group 1’s without showing the same form. Should he be rated higher after those two wins? (not talking about todays race).

Value Is EverythingSeptember 27, 2008 at 13:42 #182498I’m gonna plump for Tamayuz today..
September 27, 2008 at 14:35 #182506Tricky contest but certainly a very good race to watch.
If Henry is back on song then he will probably win but it will be good if Ravens Pass wins, like Twice Over for Henry Cecil this season he has been the best man but never the groom this season
September 27, 2008 at 14:45 #182508Fast ground means Henrythenavigator for me. Short price obviously but 11/8 with Paddy Power pays over 2.4/1 the double with Rainbow View 4/9. I don’t think thats the worst bet of all time.
I’m more worried about Rainbow View today stepping up in class than I am about Henrythenavigator. On fast ground he’s got better form than anything in the race. He’s not head and shoulders above and not worth a single bet at 11/8 / 5/4 but the others in the race have him to beat.
September 27, 2008 at 15:10 #182510The showdown is finally here and we have good ground so no excuses.
I am going to just side with Tamayuz on what is a great day’s racing.
Can’t oppose Rainbow View and I fancy Orizaba for the Royal Lodge.

Henry may have the best chance of winning but…
Henry beat Raven’s a head.
Henry got beat last time, Raven’s won showing more adaptability than previously.
Henry 11/8, Raven’s 7/2.
Which one is value, so therefore the best bet?
Remembering you have to win more than 42.1% of your bets at 11/8, and 22.2% at 7/2.
Has Henry got almost double the chance of Raven’s?

IMO yes.
Henry is a multiple G1 winner, Raven’s Pass hasn’t won a G1 at all. It may have been a head last time but Henry had won the race by the time Raven’s Pass ran on and was (IMO) idling. Henry’s turn of foot will steal a length and a half – two lengths thats a turn of foot that Raven’s Pass just doesn’t have. You have a proper G1 horse vs a horse that is only ever going to be good enough to beat a very weak G1 field at best.
Its a game of opinions of course but thats my tenpenth.

September 27, 2008 at 17:22 #182541The race the world has been waiting for.
September 27, 2008 at 20:21 #182553Well fair play Ginger you called it right.
September 27, 2008 at 20:35 #182556A great race to watch, spoiled only by the Beeb’s increasingly annoying fake "horse" and "crowd" noise. Roll on the Breeder’s Cup Mile for the winner.
