Backed Shaneshill, ignoring his run at Cheltenham, and Footpad (think/hope he will stay)
both E/W at 16s.
Anyone got any strong fancies?April 26, 2017 at 22:23 #1298438I can’t not back UNWHATIMEANHARRY having followed him for the past year.
He didn’t do the business in the Stayers Hurdle at the Festival, and
uncharacteristicly he had to be bumped along with the best part of a mile
to go. Had he come under pressure towards the end then fair enough, but that
far out, it just wasn’t like him. I took the 5/1 for this when he drifted out,
I think that was overly generous. Best on offer now is 9/2 and I still think
that’s a great price (forget the 5s showing on oddschecker by 32 RedBet and
888Sport, they are 4/1) I think he’ll turn the placings with Nichols Canyon
and Lil Rockerfeller, and I think Sutton Place is a decent horse, but I’m not
sure he needs this far.Good luck with your 2 greenasgrass, I think both have sound e/w chances, and I think
you’ve got a cracking price on Footpad who struck me in the Champion Hurdle as needing
a good bit further. If he stays this he is a real threat. Good luck
April 26, 2017 at 22:28 #1298440I’ve backed sutton place here.
So feel free to rule that one out
April 26, 2017 at 22:48 #1298444There was a whack of money went on him over the last few days Judge, seems
like somebody knows something. Good luck
April 26, 2017 at 23:03 #1298448Wouldn’t be surprised if he went off clear fav Big, can’t see the punters getting stuck into Nicholas or the other McManus horse as don’t seem the types that punters would ever really warm to.
We love a “dark horse” and I also think it’s relevant that they didn’t go to the festival with him. hopefully that will give him an edge tomorrow although have run so bad for the last 18 months or so (the worst run of my gambling life) that I feel like I’m jinxing the poor horse even mentioning him.
April 26, 2017 at 23:31 #1298452If it’s any consolation Judge, you’re not alone…..this Cheltenham and Aintree
was the worst I’ve had in living memory (and a bit either side of them too). I
reckon that 9 out of 10 ante post bets this year never made it to the tapes. If
this had been my first year betting, I’d have hung up my boots by now. Don’t get
me wrong, I loved both Festivals, and I had a ball being there on Gold Cup day,
but I normally do really well at the Festival (from about 15) so it was a bit of
a shock to the system walking out with little more than a bus fare in my pocket.
If UNOWHATIMEANHARRY had won on the Thursday, I’d have had my biggest single pay
out on any one horse, having bet him several times at big odds. But that’s racing
for you, so I’m hoping he can replenish my piggy bank a bit and show how good he is
tomorrow.I hope your luck turns around soon mate
April 27, 2017 at 00:21 #1298453Graham, if there’s any justice in the world, Harry will do the business for you today. Still can’t believe you didn’t get the big moment from him at Cheltenham. Still one of the best spots of the season on here, so good luck with him

As for me, I’ve been going on about Sutton Place all year, so it would be madness to desert him tomorrow, and happy and surprised that you can get 5’s about him tonight. I’m not keen on backing horses as low as that, but I’m happy to make the exception for him.
One who interests me at a massive price is De Plotting Shed. Already found out at this level, but I’m hoping he has enough ability to sneak into third, and think he’s a tad overpriced at 50’s. Very happy to see Davie Russell back on board, after “getting to know him” last time.
April 27, 2017 at 00:53 #1298457Thanks for that Bobby, it was a bit of a blow with Harry, but I can’t complain
about him, he made me a good few quid before Cheltenham, but it would have been
some year for me with him had he topped it off at the Festival. I hope he’s back
to his best today.Good luck with Sutton Place, if he gets the extra distance, he’s a major player
here, and having had a good look at De Potting Shed, he does look overpriced
at 50/1
April 27, 2017 at 04:44 #1298462I haven’t been a big fan of UKWIMH this year going against him every time he’s run it seems.
But 4/1 looks a big price imo
Stuck him in my multiple which is all I do for Punchestown unless something screams out at me. It’s not a meeting I tend to do well at
April 27, 2017 at 12:14 #1298482Gotta be the fav here for me.
Unoriginal I know but class makes a big difference in these staying races and NC has it in spades.
April 27, 2017 at 12:23 #1298485I’m with Moyenne here, he always looked like he wanted a trip and confirmed that emphatically at Cheltenham. Very easy to back at 3/1.

interesting thoughts above about how tough it is for nicholas canyon to go back to back
April 27, 2017 at 13:04 #1298491Interesting but he says “no stayers hurdle winner has followed up at Punchestown in the last decade”….how many have actually tried?!
Bucks always went to Aintree,I think Solewhit and Thistlecrack did as well, not sure about More of That, maybe Inglis Drever tried but he was always readied for one day.
Seems a bit of an irrelevant stat to me but he is right that NC did have a hard race the last time.
April 27, 2017 at 13:22 #129849211/4 Nichols Canyon proved too tempting in the end. The Stayers winner, the class act and undefeated round Punchestown.

You are correct MC. The only one that got close was Solwhit, withdrawn in 2013. I think the last was Iris’s Gift who was second to Rhinestone Cowboy in 2004. I think the last to win was Anzum in 1999
I absolutely love Unowhatimeanharry but love Lil Rockerfeller even more. LR had a very hard race at Cheltenham but hoping that guts will get him through and produces similar form
April 27, 2017 at 13:47 #1298497Don’t think NC has ever been given enough kudos for what he has done as he was a listed winner and group place on the flat now an 8 time G1 winner over hurdles and still the only horse to have beaten Faugheen.
Hard as nails yet you could forgive him if he had fallen out of love with the game after some of the real hard races he has had and he is still only 7 – could be that they have now truely discovered his right trip and unless he under performs I can’t see any reason why those behind he at Cheltenham show reverse the placings.
My one hope is that now that they know he truely stays the trip, Ruby (who a couple of times this week has got the tactics wrong imho) rides him a lot more handily than he did at Cheltenham.
April 27, 2017 at 13:48 #1298499Sutton place drifting like a barge, 6-1 now, having been as short as 7-2 earlier.
leg fallen off?
