Barbers Shop is gonna run a good race today. Not my words, i think he’s a terrible horse.
April 21, 2010 at 15:07 #291520Joncol.Has been took out of the race a big shame
April 21, 2010 at 15:13 #291521Doesn’t look like Denman will race – and if he does I’d say it’ll be because connections feel pressure not to let punterspunchestown attendees down. Ground is firming up too much. Hope he gets back safe.
April 21, 2010 at 15:31 #291522Shame that Joncol isn’t going and connections of Denman inspecting the ground at this stage doesn’t look good.
The horse has questions to answer on a right-handed track and Cheltenham was bound to have taken something out of him. ‘The Tank’ would be almost impossible to beat if back to his very, very best, but he looks vulnerable to me at this stage of his career.
Barbers Shop should appreciate the ground over this trip. His run at Cheltenham was too bad to be true – never travelled or jumped with his usual fluency. Could find one or two better than him, but should go well at a decent price.
**Denman runs**

Planet Of Sound
.
April 21, 2010 at 16:28 #291530Tranquil Sea – Cooldine 1-2??
April 21, 2010 at 16:43 #291531How McCoy even got Denman into 4th I’ll never know, like driving a rally car with 3 wheels
April 21, 2010 at 16:47 #291533Denman lost only once in his first fourteen starts under rules. Has now won just once in his last seven visits to the track.
Like I said, he now looks vulnerable.
Nice performance from the winner – Planet Of Sound sure appreciated the trip. Cooldine has a massive prize in him if he can learn to settle.
Finally, War Of Attrition. Went down fighting. Hope he enjoys his retirement.
April 21, 2010 at 17:04 #291536Lol this Punchestown malarkey. That’s another big race that falls to a horse who ran atriously at Cheltenham. Not only that but I cannot find a single formline that entitled him to win. Someone shed some light on that for me?
P.s. Not money talking! Not had a bet.
April 21, 2010 at 17:12 #291537I know this is the dreaded aftertiming, but when I saw that Denman was a definate runner I jumped in the car and went to Corals to watch the race. Thought I’d better have a bet on J’y Vole while I was there, then had a bet on Barbers Shop because it was the Queens birthday, then remembered that we’d been told that after Planet of Sound’s fall he couldn’t even walk. Reckoned that Hobbs wouldn’t have sent him to Punchestown if he wasn’t 100% and that he possibly needed his last race. Having said that, I only went because I wanted to see Denman run and also wanted to see War of Attritions last race. Bad run or not from what I saw of him Denman looked magnificent. oh, just read last post..perhaps what I’ve said might explain Planet of Sounds last run.
April 21, 2010 at 17:14 #291538Well I was on PoS; obviously appreciated going right handed, liked the ground, and liked the trip, unlike a lot of the others. Not given a hard in time at either Chelt or Aintree and came basically as a pretty fresh horse. Hobbs in great form at present.
April 21, 2010 at 17:23 #291540The only formline I can find involves Albertas Run being the best horse in training and the current bunch of 3 milers are a dire lot.
April 21, 2010 at 18:01 #291544The best formline is that Dave Duggan tipped it on ATR and so did Mick Fitz talk sweetly about his chance
April 21, 2010 at 18:39 #291549bet mccoy will get abit of gyp for his ride on denman, already seen a few negative comments. thought he rode denman ok considering it was pulling to the left the whole race. poor attitude shown by denman, would of thought paul nicholls have him spot on after his sloppy season. poor training performance imo.

Sadly I have to agree

Wonderful run by the old boy don’t you just love him? However his second place, I believe, just underlines what I’ve been saying since this years Festival, there will be a whole new order in next years Gold Cup. Apart from Weapons Amnesty (possibly) I very much doubt if we saw a single real contenter (Kauto Star included) for the 2011 Gold Cup at Cheltenham this year. The new order I’m thinking of includes An Siorrac, Pandorama, Joncol, Weird Al
April 21, 2010 at 19:45 #291567Bad week for me tomorrow lets hope
Captain Cee Bee.Wins tomorrow
April 21, 2010 at 19:49 #291568Planet of Sound – get in! On at 20s.
Was mentioned by Pricewise in his column today, even though he plumped for J’Vole or whatever it’s called! -
