    Chantilly 345

8 runners line up here and it looks a tough call with the top two in the betting. Full Mast finished ahead of Territories in the Jean Luc Lagardere (awarded race from Gleneagles) over 7f and has had only the one run this season over 8f finishing a close 2nd to a fair horse, nothing special.
Territories hasn’t run since a fine 2nd to Gleneagles in the 2000 Guineas so will have an absence of sorts to overcome.
He is just about favourite at the moment and that looks about right to be fair.
I wont be having a bet here but I am on my nelly today so will switch on to see how it pans out.

Anyone have any hopes for the English contingent? (Aktabantay, Dutch Connection, Kodi Bear)

ATR French Racing expert Liz Price has run her usual thorough eye over the race and given careful consideration to each runner…..before promptly selecting the favourite Territories

Territories has the best form from this season. His second place behind Gleneagles in the Guineas has been well franked by the winner and it is the best piece of form by some way.

Full Mast beat Territories twice last year and probably needed the race when beaten in Gp 3 company last time. That was a little bit disappointing though and the question is whether he has made as much progress from last year as Andre Fabre’s colt.

Kodi Bear is one I can’t fancy. He is thereabouts on the ratings but has to make a massive step up from his last run in terms of class. He’s not for me.

Dutch Connection did well in the Jersey Stakes and is a horse with a bit of speed. A really slowly run renewal would probably give him the best chance of springing a minor surprise today. The stable landed the July Cup and he’s been a likeable sort, he also has a lot better win under his belt this year than both Kodi Bear and Full Mast.

Territories would have gone to Ascot but he suffered a stone bruise and had to have a break to get over that. I reckon 2/1 is fair enough and my bets would be to back him at 2/1, lay Full Mast, and place lay Kodi Bear.

    Bon Chance

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

I like Kodi Bear thought he ran well enough on return albeit up against nothing, his two year old looks not too bad but wouldn’t back him at the price I would want nearer 20’s.

I was so tempted but after a bad Thurs & Fri on the July course I kept my nose clean. Full Mast was playing up before the start and that’s when I really thought Territories had the best chance.
They went off a furious pace and fair play to Barzalona, he had him at the back and knew they would come back to him. Good shout though Steve!
