    Isaac Shelby 8/1

Lightly raced 2 y/o campaign and ran a huge race in the Greenham..
improves again and will take a lot of beating, certainly wouldn’t be out of place in the 2000 guineas

Kudos on the price Nathan. It’s difficult to put out of your mind the fact that he essentially beat the 2000 guineas winner Chaldean in the Greenham but it sounds silly if you try and use it as a reason to back Isaac Shelby here.
    Reverse Forecast on the cards.

Looks a very weak renewal to me

    Very uninspiring

The market for this is definitely wrong, IS should be 13/8 not 3/1, had no interest in betting in this but it has to be added in with a view to laying the fav

Thanks Chivers.. I could do with him winning to cover the losses on the 2 non runners and 2 running losers I had in the English equivalent.. :rose:

Nathan’s got the value but, rather boringly, though his overall form arguably doesn’t justify the odds, American Flag has been quickening up well in these “Le Quagmire” sprint finishes and I’ve got a feeling he will sluice home again here in the French Onion Soup.

    Croutons and Gruyère cheese, anyone?

I have a personal interest in Isaac Shelby, as he was bred by a friend of mine, who will be watching nervously today as she has his 2yo half brother in training with Owen Burrows and a half sister foaled two months ago.

The one conern I have about his race today is stamina, whether he will be fully effective at a mile on the prevailing ground. There’s a clue that the trainer may share my doubts, as he has entered him for the 6F Commonwealth Cup at Ascot, as well as the St James Palace.

From stall one, Levey will have little choice but to race prominently, quite probably making the running – quite a test of his pace judgement. Good luck to backers (and breeder).

Whatever happens they have breed a gorgeous looking horse…
These French races are sometimes not overly fast run, they tend to turn into sprints, not always the case
Isaac Shelby made the running in the Greenham so if he does go forward Levey could always slow it down from the front

Gonna have a few quid on Valimi

He’s already beaten American flag and knowing rouget if he’s had this race in mind he will find plenty if improvement from last time

At the prices he seems the bet at 7/1

Sky Sports Racing got very lucky, went with Plumpton’s 2:45 2m3f Handicap Chase (off almost 4mins late) with no split screen for 2000g from Longchamp but they were running late themselves and then had an issue with a horse that has now been withdrawn after losing a shoe.

33-1 winner and 40-1 3rd – that was a bit of an underwhelming race for a classic.

Side note: At The Races website giving Longchamp ground as good whilst on RP site it is listed as very soft!!!

    I enjoyed the race, actually.

But I suspect it wasn’t the strongest of renewals.

Lord knows what the ground is. Personally, I watch it on France-Galop website. Just sign up for free and watch live. Commentary is French but that adds a bit of Je nais se quois, si vous voyez ce que je veux dire.
