They say his horses can not run
they say he can not train
a few years in the wilderness
I see and feel his painAll he wants is winners
to write a brand new story
of horses of days gone by
when Canford Cliffs and co bought glorybut O’Brien is mopping up
everything in sight
with his team of superstars
saying Churchill will win the fightturning for home the race begins
and Barney Roy is closing fast
Churchill is already beaten but
The Bomber holds the mastBarney digs in and takes the lead
Doyle powers him to the post
Group 1 glory back to team Hannon
the thing he wants the most

The time has come and almost gone
for Poems to be wrote.
But posters haven’t done a thing
I think we’ve missed the boat
Our Nathan’s poem stands alone
a cheery little story
about a horse called Barney Roy
who restored his trainer’s gloryBut Richard take a look around
it’s not all Barney Roy
for Martyn Meade is Bigging up
another Wonder BoyHe’s tall and leggy handsome and
if things can fall his way
Hannon’s best son will be Eclipsed
by him on SaturdayHis famous father Frankel is
a Legend and a gent…
but Saturday the day will just belong
to one horse EM-I-NENT
Surprise

Not much interest this poem comp this year, which is a shame as it’s only a good bit of fun.

On a Forum he is so hard to please.
You’re an a-hole he mutters
A dickhead he splutters
Yet now his balls look like peas. Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
July 5, 2017 at 13:31 #1307722I am to poetry what Trump is to Diplomacy
My tipping would be on a par
A wealth warning is given to those that would follow me
My selections are somewhat bizarreI care not a jot, I carry on blindly
that Holy Grail is nearly in reach
“Pack it in” I hear you cry somewhat unkindly
The jumps are coming! let me stay I beseechSo to all new TRF wannabes I give this warning
the bookie is not your pal
but when your 20/1 shot has them all in mourning
Pah! who is this Thomas SegalWell that’s my effort Nathan, if you could call it that. I’ve never done
a poem before……and still haven’t

Jac xA Grand Win
So now the race has come and gone
Ulysses reigns supreme,
But it’s left some folk to ponder
on what really might have been. Two horses came from off the pace
but only one could win the race
With nostrils flaring eye to eye
the winning post went flying by.Michael Stoute rolled around in joy
his horse had just held Barney RoyRichard Hannon looked dismayed
as Ulysses did not parade
And Stoutey paid a paltry sum
to ensure his horse was number oneAnd as for Eminent… well he…
is on the naughty step for me
he bolted off out of the gate
and got himself into a state
Poor SDS was hanging on
good job that his arms were strong.Cliffs of Moher nearly fell
as the race was in full flight
Eminent got hungry
and went out for a bite
Barney Roy got busy
and was eating up the ground
But Michael Stoute was smiling
as he’d paid his thousand pounds
to dodge all the preliminaries
helped Ulysses it’s true
but he would have won it anyway..
or would he?..that’s up to you
