This is all getting a bit much, I see the BBC is running live text commentary from the Bahrain Masters because Littler is playing. These events at most get a very short write up the day after finishing usually. I am not getting at him, I just think there’s no need to keep heaping all this attention on him.
January 19, 2024 at 17:44 #1677850Littler has just defeated Nathan Aspinall 6-3 in the quarter final. He had a 9 dart finish in the first leg, won the decisive leg with a 116 checkout and averaged 104.5.
Fair play to him for building on his form from the World Championships and dealing with all the attention.
January 19, 2024 at 18:23 #1677855It has to be said that it doesn’t seem to be affecting him one bit. For good measure he’s landed the ‘big fish’ in his next match.
January 19, 2024 at 21:20 #1677878Littler wins the title, defeating Price, Aspinall and Van Gerwen.
I don’t suppose anyone can question his place in the Premier League now.
January 19, 2024 at 21:25 #1677879Littler is now the early favourite to be Sports Personality of the Year, at around the 7/1 mark.
He is almost certainly poor value, given the upcoming Euros and the Olympics. But it is a sign of how far he has travelled so quickly. Only a month ago hardly anyone had heard of him!
January 19, 2024 at 22:39 #1677883He was 6’s for SPOTY before the World’s final
I wouldn’t totally write him off but he’d have to win every darts event possible, win a kebab eating contest and score the winning goal in the Euros final before I place a bet on itCharles Darwin to conquer the World
January 20, 2024 at 00:04 #1677893Yes that’s the thing, England could win the Euros but even so would it be Kane, Bellingham or someone else who delivers the SPOTY winning performance? Team GB will win a decent amount of golds but it’s a case of picking which ones. O’Sullivan could even split the pub sports vote if he completes the Triple Crown in May. Too many variables at this stage.
Great performance though and any doubts that he is the real deal are gone. The next tournament in the series takes place in the Netherlands next weekend.
March 3, 2024 at 15:43 #1683440If you didn’t see Littler vs Heta this afternoon I urge you to go and watch it. As good a game of darts as you’ll see. The first five legs in particular were ridiculous, they took seven minutes.
March 3, 2024 at 21:41 #1683487Just watched it
a shame they had to go for a break after those first 5 legsCharles Darwin to conquer the World
March 4, 2024 at 22:26 #1683601Haha yes I said at the time forget the break and just keep playing. The quality dipped in the middle but it was always going to, it went up again towards the end. You’d win almost any match playing like either of them did.
It’s a good tournament, always nice to see a few slightly less familiar names on the big stage and it was a decent run for Mervyn King too.
April 26, 2024 at 10:45 #1691761Fair play to Luke Littler. Plenty of people (myself included) were doubtful about him being in the Premier League but he has taken it all in his stride. Top of the table and almost certain to finish in the top four.
I hope not too much is made about what went on last night in Liverpool. It was just a bit of banter. Maybe he shouldn’t have got drawn into it but he is still only 17.
April 26, 2024 at 11:07 #1691765I shouldn’t think much if anything should be made of it
Not that I saw any of it, so don’t know the details, just going off what has been posted on twitter
all good fun and banter by all accountsCharles Darwin to conquer the World
April 26, 2024 at 12:50 #1691777I don’t think a vocal Manchester United fan can expect to go to Liverpool and get the easiest of rides. Experiencing a slightly hostile crowd might even do him some good. Rightly or wrongly, it’s going to happen.
I have to say I was sceptical as well but he’s more than proved us wrong. I don’t think Peter Wright can expect an invite next time, from what I’ve seen he’s been poor. If the aim was to sell tickets in Scotland then Gary Anderson would probably have been a better choice.
April 26, 2024 at 13:06 #1691778Wright’s drop in form has been shocking. I expect he can’t wait for the Premier League to be over.
May 23, 2024 at 10:18 #1695214Any reason why Van Gerwen is 2/1 against Humphries tonight ??
Charles Darwin to conquer the World
May 23, 2024 at 17:53 #1695273Humphries does have a very good recent record against him and is clearly in better form but nonetheless it seems a bit big. Van Green does have it in him to pull out a big performance when it’s needed.
May 23, 2024 at 18:36 #1695278I see its first to 10 legs so that will favour the inform player
I was thinking 6/4 MVG before looking this morningCharles Darwin to conquer the World
