Van Gerwen 13/2 to win outright with 1/2 each way for the final. Around evens to win his quarter. Worth considering I’d say.
Cullen’s behaviour was very odd, he claims his abrupt on stage interview was pre planned and he’d already told the interviewer about it. Just makes it even more strange in my eyes.
Classic failure to understand that not being favourite doesn’t mean they think you won’t win, just that the other guy has a better chance. Fair enough, maybe he doesn’t bet and obviously he can’t bet on darts but nobody was stopping his family/mates piling on if the odds were so good.
December 23, 2024 at 13:29 #1716135I have thrown a tenner on Van Gerwen at 13/2. I don’t think he will beat an on form Humphries or Littler but he has a fair chance of getting to the final. If he does, he is better than a 13/2 chance.
December 23, 2024 at 22:41 #1716176Ricky Evans is always a good watch
I think he has Chisnall next
that will be a belter, maybe not class wise but the spectacleYou weren’t wrong, what a match. Hope you were watching gents, absolute classic. Pretty good standard too, especially early on. The quality dropped off a little bit but replaced by superb drama.
December 23, 2024 at 22:44 #1716179Yes, brilliant game. I love Ricky Evans. I thought he might waver in the sudden death but he held his nerve. Particularly in breaking back.
I did him for most 180s which he managed clawed back and win late on…
Poor Chisnall miss counting but won that leg but cracking dramaCharles Darwin to conquer the World
December 23, 2024 at 22:54 #1716181Yes that 131 ‘checkout’ was brilliant, glad he won the leg as it would have been a shame to decide it on that.
As I recall, Chisnall levelled the 180 count only a throw or two before Evans hit his last one.
December 23, 2024 at 23:14 #1716182The match of the Championship so far.
Chisnall must regret missing his one dart at double 5 to go 2-0 up. If he had hit that, I doubt Evans would have come back from 2-0 down.
December 24, 2024 at 00:04 #1716188The beauty of set play in a nutshell.
Cross vs Williams was very much ‘after the Lord Mayor’s show’. You didn’t miss much if you decided to switch off.
December 27, 2024 at 17:22 #1716633Another nine dart finish this afternoon, this time from Damon Heta. It’s now odds on that we get three and it’s hard to argue with that. It’s 2/1 that we get a record four.
As with Kist he ended up losing the match and another seeded player bites the dust.
December 29, 2024 at 19:26 #1717008Rydz was again very impressive this afternoon. He can compete with anyone playing like that. Would meet van Gerwen if they both get that far.
December 30, 2024 at 08:52 #1717026Peter Wright was clearly running into a bit of form but how many of us really saw him defeating Luke Humphries? That has left the way clear for Luke Littler to reach the final.
Although I wonder if it might have cranked up the pressure on Littler? Now it is expected of him to reach the final and win. Maybe he will – but he showed in his first match that the strain can get to him. Understandably as he is still so young.
I am not sure I would want to take a shade of odds on about him winning.
December 30, 2024 at 13:17 #1717054Agreed Cork. Of course he’s favourite, you can’t argue with that, but odds on looks a bit skinny to me. Last year was a free shot but this year there is expectation and with that comes pressure. If and when he learns to handle that then he’ll be the complete player, and as you note, there is still plenty of time.
Joyce is a great finisher and he’ll cause Littler problems if he gets off to a slow start like he has done so far.
Big shock last night, if you told me the score was 4-1 I’d have happily put money on it being in Humphries’ favour.
December 30, 2024 at 23:47 #1717088Great match between Littler and Joyce, just had that little bit of extra quality when it mattered most. A shame for Joyce as you’ll win plenty of matches playing like that.
Van Gerwen looked good. He lost two sets but both were more due to de Graaf raising his game than van Gerwen dropping off.
Could be a cracking set of quarter finals.
January 1, 2025 at 16:11 #1717304Great game.. Van Gerwen should good metal as Rydz was relentless
Charles Darwin to conquer the World
January 1, 2025 at 16:31 #1717305Brilliant stuff. A lot of darts still to be played of course but if that van Gerwen meets an in form Littler in the final it could be a belter. I make that a 10/11 the pair job.
January 2, 2025 at 22:15 #1717371Bookies can start pricing up Littler v van Gerwen now.
Bunting has had his chances and not taken them, van Gerwen will. Everything points to a close one tomorrow in my book. Bunting hasn’t done much wrong, he’d be beating most players but you can’t spurn chances against a player of this quality.
Van Gerwen won at a canter earlier, he had gears left to switch to.
January 2, 2025 at 22:29 #1717373Good luck with Van Gerwen guys.
I was torn between him and Anderson but went with Gary
It will be a great game that’s for sure. a toss up but I’d edge it on Littler if someone put a gun to my head
I probably bet on total sets or 180’s depending on the oddsCharles Darwin to conquer the World
January 2, 2025 at 23:31 #1717376Books go 2/5 and 2/1 early doors. That seems a wide gulf. I can understand Littler being favourite but not by that much.
When it was 5-1, it could have been 3-3 had Bunting taken his chances. Van Gerwen is equally capable of creating those chances and more capable of taking them.
