Well done Paul Hanagan.
It is good to see such a grounded individual with none of the baggage that comes with superstars in other sports winning the jockey’s championship.
November 5, 2011 at 16:51 #376203Agreed David.
His success is much deserved, he has put in a long shift over the season and will be welcomed of the break no doubt!
November 5, 2011 at 16:53 #376204Agreed also. I don’t think that Richard Faheys horses have been firing as well this season. So very well done. Credit to de Sousa too who has also put in a lot of effort this season
November 5, 2011 at 17:26 #376210Thoroughly deserved. The bloke is a credit to the sport. Well done Paul Hanagan.
November 5, 2011 at 17:32 #376213Yes well done indeed. Although Glenn would say the winner is nearly always the one who has the most rides, in fact SDS and Ryan Moore were favs at times and Fallon got close at one point. Hanagan was persistent despite a bad patch in the summer and didn’t get banned much. His planning was meticulous and he conserved his energy well.
I hope he gets some group one winners next year.
November 5, 2011 at 22:59 #376294Paul Hanagan is a great jockey & a top bloke, humble & unassuming. I’m amazed there aren’t more replies to this thread.
Well done Paul & SDS too. Northern based jockeys one & two.
Richard Hughes comments in his RP column didn’t impress me either, inferring if it wasn’t for the whip ban in June, the Championship was there for the taking.November 6, 2011 at 00:20 #376327Very pleased for him.A credit to his profession.
November 6, 2011 at 15:05 #376444Agree with all the above.
Well done, Paul, richly deserved.
