October 6, 2010 at 11:58 #321138Why are you so interested in this old gelding?
October 6, 2010 at 13:52 #321166That’s good to read. Has been a bit of a favourite of a number of people for a couple of seasons now, not least on account of his markings. Not quite an Angrove Rum Baba, but distinctive and characterful nonetheless;

Wishing him well this campaign.

Yes – impossible not to smile at the name, the colouration, and his style of running. I’ll be very glad to see him back too. Thanks to his namesake for finding out about him.

October 6, 2010 at 16:17 #321191A lot of punters have great affection for this ‘old gelding’ especially after his beginners chase season of 08/09. He had gone close in all of his five attempts to get off the mark over the bigger obstacles before winning at Kempton in February 2009. He was becoming an expensive horse to follow at that stage but he duly delivered in front of decent crowd who were there to see the return of Denman.
He was a favourite with Matt Williams of the Racing Post who stuck with him over those couple of months before reaping the rewards.
He’s definitely a horse I’m looking forward to seeing again.
October 6, 2010 at 17:35 #321198Is seven really ‘old’?

I took an interest in the horse too, as I tend to do with french bred ‘Cyborgs’.
Has one of these beasts
ever
not been sent to front early and stayed there whenever they’ve won?

For exactly the reasons above

Will be keeping a close eye on Rum Baba also!
