Hello,
I backed ARCALIS yesterday, each way thankfully.
This may have been discussed elsewhere on the forum, so forgive me if I have duplicated the subject..
I learnt after the race O’Regan came back 3lb OVERWEIGHT. As he was only beaten 3 lengths, you must understand how frustrated I am.

How the hell can this happen??????
regards,
doyley
March 20, 2010 at 10:04 #284235Well you see…..O’Regan had a McDonalds for breakfast and couldn’t be bothered with sweating it off again.

A good question for the BHA.

I had Arcalis ew as well….although im not sure hed have beaten the winner even without the extra 3lb.
Thanks to o"regan though well never know.
If hed have been a bit nearer the pace though throughout the race..another story.
March 20, 2010 at 10:49 #284246Hello,
Surely O’Regan’s gaffer should have weighed him "out" at the proper weight.
The horse’s owners are not going to be pleased with the team, and as they are the Wylies, there could be significant reprecussions…

March 20, 2010 at 11:50 #284255Arcalis finished as though there was no weight in his saddle cloth.
Value Is EverythingMarch 20, 2010 at 12:33 #284262It begs the question why they didn’t use a claimer? And could you imagine McCoy not getting close to the weight? Strange incident
March 20, 2010 at 12:56 #284269Denis O’Regan actually weighed out at the correct weight, but came back 3lb heavier.
March 20, 2010 at 13:01 #284270Right, even stranger
March 20, 2010 at 14:27 #284278Difficult to see how it could happen, unless someone fiddled with the saddle cloth between weighing out and weighing in. Not saying anything did happen. I know the weight was more. But do think he should’ve been disqualified, to discourage possible wrongdoing.
Value Is EverythingMarch 20, 2010 at 14:41 #284282Bloody hell, thought I’d found a right touch in the morning when I looked at his weight and mark but it seems like everyone was on him
What’s more annoying is that I had a RFC with Dee Ee Williams…Thousand Stars probably had Arcalis covered, although it was extremely annoying to read the news in the RP today, and it’s even stranger now that Rory has shed more light on the incident. Difficult to see his silks picking up 3lb of kickback…maybe Katie managed to slip one of her weights into Denis’ cloth?
March 20, 2010 at 14:56 #284289but any ideas on HOW he got the extra 3lb?? I’ve never heard of this before. I’ve heard of being less weight , ie- going to toilet or sweating off water or even loosing a weight from saddle, but never carrying MORE. How could it have happened?? ha. Strange!!

Maybe our denis had one too many kebabs when out the night before.

In scotland we call it fat b.ast.arditis

Seriously it is bad though…i dont think it made much difference but what if arcalis had went down by say….a head etc.
March 20, 2010 at 16:54 #284323Was it raining that much during the race that the jockey gained an extra 3lbs? ? ?
Heavy rain in Cheltenham.

Couldnt see that being responsible for 3lbs.
Unless he was wearing a wooly jumper and fell in a very big puddle!

How could they commit wrong doing? Would have thought skullduggery would be much more likely if they were disqualified.
March 20, 2010 at 20:12 #284379They were talking about this on the radio as I left the course yesterday and said it was likely he’d weighed out without something, although I’m not sure what of that weight could be unnoticed (e.g. back protector).
