Can’t even remember a horse of Champion Hurdle potential to become a Grade 1 winning chaser

    Sizing Europe

    Dawn Run

Menorah too, only 3/1 in the 2010 CH.

Is that all in about 30 years of NH racing???
That is not many good chasers. But as we all know Champion Hurdle winners have nothing in common with the jumping of proper obstacles.
Otherwise the likes of Istabraq, Alderbrook, Large Action, Make A Stand, Hurricane Fly, Hors La Loi, Binocular, Hardy Eustace, Rooster Booster, Rock On Ruby, Kribensis, Brave Inca, Granville Again and so on must have had about 30-40 Grade 1 wins over fences between them.

No that clearly isn’t all of them is it. You could add the likes of Buck House, winner of a Supreme Novices Hurdle and a Queen Mother Chase. And so on.

Whilst you may have a point isn’t it clouded by the fact that the very best hurdlers sometimes stay over the smaller obstacles because there is no need for them to switch?
